I live in the land of 100,000 lakes (our country's version of Minnesota I guess...). Everyone and their dog has a cottage. The cottage lifestyle if very prevalent.

I'm not a fan of swimming in salt water - give me a freshwater Canadian lake any day.

 I live in the foothills of the Canadian Rocky Mountains so beach isn't exactly my natural habitat. I can still remember the first time I saw the ocean though (Pacific), and how much different the water and sand was when I later made it to the Caribbean. We cruise a lot and will sometimes take a beach excursion but it's kind of only because we feel like we should, not because we really love it. We don't surf or paddleboard and just laying there baking in the sun has little appeal. And I've been bitten by sand fleas more than once - I'm a little paranoid about it now.
Come to Manitoba and enjoy some of our world class beaches!!

Enjoy is not a word that leaps to mind for that experience. I semi-grudgingly went house-boating on the BC Shuswap with family a couple of summers ago but the shoreline where we were was really rocky. I don’t think I’ve ever been to a fresh-water sand beach. I’m not a lake cabin (or camping) person at all, so I don’t see it happening, but thanks for the invitation. :wave2:

Never been to a fresh water beach? Wow. I'm kind of shocked. It's like so much a part of Canadian identity - at least in SK, MB and ON for sure. Long weekends at the cottage - tubing, BBQ, etc.

I have been to some beaches in the US and other countries but not a big fan. If I travel prefer to be on the go seeing historic sites and other things.

I grew up on the water, so I can’t see myself ever living where a beach isn’t nearby. It’s where I go to unwind… the sound of waves and a breeze is all I really need.

I'm not really a big fan, myself. We used to go when I was a kid - my dad would take us to the beaches in Rhode Island. They aren't that great, though I woul dhave fun in the little beach towns playing mini-golf or riding waterslides. I prefer chlorinated water! Now, I ahve been to prettier beaches, like in California or Hawaii, but still, a little goes a long way. I really don't understand spending hours - or days - there, just sitting. It's not my ideal vacation.

Now, Blizzard Beach on the other hand.... 😁

When I was about ten, I was given charge of my younger sister and two cousins and sent to the beach for the day to 'get some color' most days. I am a devout homebody and I *loathed* the beach and the responsibility of taking care of the younger kids. That has colored my view of beaches, I'm afraid. I have tried going a few times as an adult, and I get bored and I don't like the sand in every crevice. I'd much rather sit around a pool with a book.

Growing up in NJ, we had a house down the shore. Any day that wasn't a day out on the boat was a day at the beach. We had beach badges for our favorite private beach, but also would frequent one of the beach state parks if family was coming to visit for a beach day. I've been to various kind of lake beaches as well in addition to beaches on the Pacific, the Keys/the Gulf of Mexico, and parts of the Caribbean.

Now the truth... I HATE THE BEACH!

Give me mountains any day! 🏔️🗻⛰️

I like the beach and have been to a fair few, although I could take or leave actually going on the beach itself as I'm really not a fan of sand. Do love going to the seaside though in general and having a walk near the beach.

I grew up very close to a large beach on Lake Erie but never spent a lot of time there. I live only a couple of miles away from Lake Erie now, but I’m not really a beach person. I do love looking at the water and appreciate the view and fresh air, but that’s about it.

I like but similar to Darth Vader, I don't really like sand. We live about 5 min away from the beach -- east coast of FL. Don't go too terribly often.

Last beach I was at was the Glass Beach in Fort Bragg, California. Hard to believe that a dump was built on a beach on the Pacific ocean. Opened as a dump in 1906, and over the years the ocean waves broke down all the glass into small, rounded rock sized chunks. Closed in 1943 and all the other trash was burned off or removed. Only thing left behind was the glass beach. It is interesting how what was a dump can produce such beauty.

I enjoy walking on beaches, mostly Florida, Lakes Michigan/Huron/Superior. Enjoy Caribbean beaches with shade too. Not much for just lying on a beach since I have had issues with skin cancer. I’m really more of a campfire in the woods type person, I can sit by one for hours🙂

I grew up near small lakes and currently live about a half hour from the ocean. I love beaches of all kinds, and one of my goals this summer is to go more!!
