It’s Halloween week, so I’ll be doing a Halloween topic each day. Today, we’re talking about haunted houses, which is something many of us enjoy going to. There’s many haunted houses by me this time of year and they are all pretty expensive. They are all scary, but from what I’m told from others, some are so realistic that it makes you feel like you are really in your worst nightmare. Some people love to feel super scared and others do not. Let’s find out what you like. Give us your scary haunted answer today……

What is your opinion of haunted houses?
Have you been to a haunted house this year?
If not, will you be going to one this year?
(multiple choice)

For Me……I’m not a fan of haunted houses. The last time I was at a haunted house was 29 years ago and I hated every minute of it. I don’t like to be scared, and I especially don’t like to be scared in such a bloody gruesome setting. The last time I went to a haunted house, was with a friend on a week night. It wasn’t very busy at all, and a worker ran after us all the way to my car with a chain saw. I’m going to assume that the chain was removed, but what if someone forgot to remove it and a tragic accident happened. All I know, is that I was not happy, and I’ve never been to a haunted house since then and I probably won’t in the future.

Now I could definitely work in one, but I am much to old to go to a haunted house. No young ones around to take to one.

They are okay.
I haven't been to one in many years and don't have plans to go to one this year.

Only one time to a really professional scary one, about 30 years ago with Marie and the kids. The person at the entrance in response to a few questions I had while waiting to go in, said, if at any time you want out, just yell, out now.

We go in, pitch dark black, totally disorienting, very claustrophobic inducing. About 5 minutes in, Marie and I had had enough. I yelled, out now. Somebody replied immediately, right away sir. And we all were out in seconds. A couple workers asked how we were, which was fine in reality. Very accommodating.

Last time for me/us.

Don't like them. I've only been to one in my entire life. It was in Gatlinburg and I made my then 12 year old son go in front of me. I'm completely night blind and there was a lot of darkness so he had to lead me around. He loved it and wanted to go again. Nope, one and done for me.

Assuming you mean teh seasonal, walk-through, scare attractions, then they are just okay. I like it when they have really good sets or special effects.

Now, if you are counting the Haunted Mansion proper, well, of course I love that and consider it to be the greatest achievement of mankind.

Never been to a haunted mansion unless you count the ride.

I hate haunted houses. The last haunted house I went to had a very claustrophobic section. I will never go into another one.

I'm too easily startled (something I don't enjoy) to waste the money on these experiences. I wish I could get into it because I have friends that like to go, but not me. I'm also not fond of how many patrons treat the actors. It's a dirty secret about these places. DD16s SO is working at one of the top ones in our area and nearly every night there are serious issues where she has to try and get aggressive guests removed.

I love Haunted Houses! 🖤 I am a classic horror fan, so Dark Universe was my kind of place.

I go in any chance I get! We have a great one in Atlanta ~ NETHERWORLD!!! It is a permanent build and they work on it all the time. Incredible, amazing work.

I built my first one when I was about 13 in my parents garage, even trying to replicate the Haunted Mansion endless hallway. I then built one for about 10 years in my current home using garage (2.5 car) and two big tents on the driveway. About 8 rooms. Strobes in every room to make my monsters appear alive. Big facade out front. Huge cemetery in front yard with lights and smoke. Our little street of 25 houses would get a few hundred visitors because of it. Most the stuff I passed on to someone who was in the beginnings of building theirs. I still have plenty in attic including my full cemetery and two monsters still built (my two favorite masks). I miss it very much!

This is recent years when I condensed the cemetery inside the walk ... used to be the whole front yard with lots of other props. These are pretty much lifesize ~ the Fright Fest one is about 4 feet wide. I carved and painted most of them myself. (this is not all of them)

I love haunted houses and go to one every year. My family has season passes for King's Dominion down in Virginia. They do a big thing for Halloween, 6 haunted houses/mazes and several scare zones, so we just do that.

DD13 is an easy mark, the actors always chase her, etc. It's hilarious. She's screaming, running and hiding. Love it.

I voted I don't like Haunted Houses but honestly I don't know if I would like one or not as I can't remember going to one since I was a kid. But it definitely not something I would seek out to go to and do.
