For us DISers that are not in warm weather states, we enjoy sitting around a fire in the Fall. For us DISers in warm weather states, we may enjoy sitting around a fire once the weather cools down. There’s different ways of sitting around a fire - a pit in the ground, an above ground fire pit or a fire table. So what’s your hot and fiery answered today……..

Do you own a fire pit or a fire table?
If yes….. which one?
If yes….. do you like to just sit by it or make food over it?
If yes….. have you used it this Fall season?
(multiple choice)

For Me……We have both an above ground fire pit and also a fire table. We haven’t use the fire pit in a couple years and when we did, we would cook hotdogs and s’mores over it. The fire table I have used this year to sit around and enjoy looking at the flames. We have an area outside that we set up with outdoor furniture, the fire table (almost exactly like the one in the picture below) and a television - I like to turn on the fire table when I watch TV to feel nice and cozy.

We bought a fire pit that I think we've used twice in 5 years. The wood we have is all punky so it won't light, and quite honestly, we just never think of sitting around, outside, at night. I wish we remembered it more often, as I enjoy sitting around a fire, but of course then there's needing to shower before bed (I'm a morning showerer) so one doesn't smell like campfire all night!

We also have a firepit table that uses gas. We have not used it this fall exactly, I think once while it was technically still summer and it was nice and cool that night.

We also have one of those regular fire pits that's (like one of the cheap ones from Walmart or somewhere like that) for burning wood. We use that in the cool/cold months to burn sticks and stuff, or if we can get some fire wood.

We don't cook anything in them, we use them for ambiance and warmth. It is nice to have a glass of wine, watch some tv, or listen to some music next to the fire on a cool evening.

We have a fire pit built into our patio at our main house and a fire table on our patio at our lake house. So far, we’ve only used the fire table once or twice this summer, haven’t used the fire pit yet. We often only use the fire pit to help burn cleared debris from our yard.

I have a gas fire pit - I have not used it yet this season but am looking forward to using it now that it’s getting cooler !!!

We had a fire pit a few years ago that eventually got a small hole in it. We didn’t replace it. We mostly used it to get rid of the little branches that always came down from our trees.

We have a fire pit where DH burns wood. He uses his wood stove more in the barn now as he has a big TV in there hooked up to football games. :)

So I have two fire pits I guess. On large one and one small table. One is natural guess and hooked up to the line and one is propane.
I have used the large one very rarely - maybe one a year - the weather goes from too hot to too cold to use it very quickly most years.
I have never actually used the small side table.
The large one is mostly for decoration during cookouts during the day - it looks nice and has "fancy" glass beads.

We have a homemade fire pit. We have an area that DH cleared/dug out, and surrounded with bricks. We've used it in the past, usually just once/twice a year, just for marshmallows, hot dogs, etc. We often use whatever sticks, branches we find around that need burning, but if nothing available, we've bought wood in the past. We like to wait until it's chilly.....which has not happened yet in middle TN, it was in the upper 80s/low 90s last week. I love roasted (burnt) marshmallows, so hopefully we will have some cool evenings soon and will get out and make a fire.
I think we bought some sort of smaller fire pit on clearance one year. I need to ask about that, see where it is.

No fire pit here. Our neighbors have one though, and I enjoy the smell of wood smoke from it.

We used to have something like this, but I don't think we used it more than two or three times. It was pretty, but it was a pain. DH pretty much decided that he doesn't feel like messing with a fire unless we're camping with friends or it's with the smoker while he's making a brisket.

No fire pit here. Like BSH above, a neighbor has one, we enjoy the scent when they use it. Never heard of a fire table.

A few of our neighbors have fire pits (either homemade from cinderblocks or the raised type you purchase like shown in pictures above). I can't recall ever seeing them used very much. Seems like once the novelty wears off, it is more work than it is worth and most people don't sit around outside in the dark.

We have a stone fire pit built into our patio. We use it when having friends over in the spring and fall. We also use it to burn a lot of yard waster, like branches that fall from trees.

We have a fire table like the second picture on our large front porch and a square fire table in the backyard. We rarely use them.
