How many watermelons have you bought this year?



For Me….Sadly, I just bought my 2nd one yesterday.
I love watermelon in the summer, but they are so expensive this year. They were on sale yesterday for what was the normal price last year. There’s been boxes full of them at the grocery store since no one wants to pay almost $10 for a watermelon. I never understood this - wouldn’t you want to sell more for less $$$ than much less for more $$$ and then throw away the product when it goes bad. I don’t get it

I have not bought any myself, however I will eat it if somebody else cuts it up and serves it. It is definitely GOOD stuff!

I usually don't buy whole watermelon's unless it is a mini. It is just me and I would not get through a watermelon before it went bad. I just buy slices or chunks.

I buy whole watermelons all summer. It’s a great rehydrating snack after working in the garden. On sale they have been $4 not on sale $6.

I love watermelons, but the ones they sell in the U.K. are not as delicious as the ones in the US or Mediterranean.
I am growing cucamelons this year, but they taste nothing like a watermelon or a cucumber!

I did win a watermelon eating contest when I was 15. Ate one and a half. Went to the bathroom a lot I remember.

I get the minis also. There are 2 in our household that will eat watermelon, but even the mini takes us awhile to get through. The annoying thing is that sometimes I find the mini is more expensive than the full size ones! Luckily today that was not the case and I just picked up a mini. I can't wait to get into it. Sometimes I have gotten a full size one when it's cheaper, and I'll try and give some away to my neighbors or parents. I have never seen a full size watermelon close to $10.

I put down 4 in the poll, but I really don't know for sure. That sounds about right though. I'll cut one up and it will last a week or so, and then I'll let another couple of weeks go by before getting another.

No whole watermelons here. Marie does buy the cut up ones as prior posters mentioned. Generally the 3 for $12, usually watermelon, cantaloupe and pineapple. More costly, I'm sure, but more variety, less waste and ready to eat. Voted other.

I bought our first one this summer during a July 4th sale for $4 and immediately bought a couple more. Sadly, they're back up to $7-8 again. I've been watching prices, but I may have to just give in and get another soon.

I voted 2, but I didn't buy them all at once - I tend to buy the quarters, so I am probably on my second "whole" watermelon if I add them all up.

3 minis for family get-togethers. The grand kids love it. DD likes it, none of the rest of us eat it

I will only get them when on sale. The minis are 88 or 99 cents.

Just two of us, so I don’t buy whole melons unless we have a bunch of people over. I’ve bought a cut wedge of watermelon maybe 3 or 4 times this year. I love it.

I answered other, and the one whole I bought was rotten and had to be thrown away. I had a few before that that weren’t very good, so for the first time, I’ve been buying them already sliced or cubed. Watermelon is my favorite fruit!

I haven't bought any whole watermelons, but I have been getting a great fruit bowl from a vending machine at work that has cut up watermelon, cantaloupe, strawberries, pineapple, and blueberries as often as I can.

Ugh, I buy 1-2 every week and pretty much eat them myself. Some aren't great and I only eat the best parts, some get trashed, and others are wonderful. But I eat too much. You can gain a lot of weight from watermelon.
