I used to play blackjack now and then at the area casinos. For a while Soaring Eagle was the only game in "town" (broadly speaking--I had to come up from Metro Detroit!). Then Casino Windsor opened, which I believe is now Caesars Windsor, and then the Detroit casinos came in. The Windsor casino, to my knowledge, has always been no-smoking so that was a huge plus in my book. I have not been to any casino in years, though. I'd need to investigate the smoking and buffet situations before going again. Back in the old days, they sometimes would offer a pretty good buffet deal to get you to come down, but I suspect all that got squashed by the pandemic.

No gambling for me. But occasionally I like to go to Vegas and stay at the Wynn or the Encore. Hubby and I will go with a few couples to see shows, shop, and eat at some of the great restaurants. The guys will play 21, poker or craps.

I have certain compulsive tendencies (WDW! :D ), but gambling isn't one of them, thank goodness. I can take it or leave it and once I've spent my pre-determined amount, I'm done.

I used to play blackjack and craps, but I lost interest in gambling a few years ago. I don't find casinos fun if you aren't playing.

My aunt and I go once in a while to Rivers in Philly, and I go once in a while to Atlantic City with my sister. I save for a couple of months, so I'm able to take $100 to play penny slots. Never play anything other than penny slots, never take any other money with me, and when it's gone I'm done. I enjoy it a lot, and don't really see any difference between putting money in a slot machine for a few hours and giving $100 to, say, enter a theme park.

I go about twice a year either to a local casino or Atlantic City. I mainly stick to slot machines but occasionally I’ll play craps (the “wrong way”).

The last trip a few months ago I encountered a digital penny slot where you could play up to 405 credits, or $4.05 per spin. I couldn’t figure out how many different “lines” there were. 5 reels across and four rows down. Many of the lines are all zig-zaggy. You can play more than one cent per line with a GIANT “Maximum Bet” button prominently displayed.

Not a casino person at all. I have been to Las Vegas many times, almost all for annual business seminars. A few visits there that I was not really in favor of, destination weddings and the like. Best part of a LV trip for me is the trip back to the airport to go home. When there, I don't gamble, not morally against, just not my thing I guess, I don't get anything from it. Retired financial planner here, ha.. I always enjoyed the top entertainment, with the many Cirque du Soleil shows the best. Went to one local casino here once, friends of ours wanted to go. :rolleyes2

Enjoy your trip, Sandy. Again, Happy 30th to you both.

I have never gambled before in my life and I probably never will. I don't like giving money to something and not getting anything in return, which is like........the entire point lol.

It's also why I have 0 interest in going to Las Vegas. I would only go if I was forced to for a work conference or something like that.

Thanks Dan!! ❤️ :goodvibes

Not anymore. A trip to a casino used to mean a trip to Lake Tahoe or Reno, a trip of 90 minutes to two hours. Indian casinos were approved here in California after 1980 and they have devastated the casinos in Reno and Lake Tahoe. Their odds aren't as good as the Nevada casinos, the food is RIDICOUSLY expensive. No more 99 cent all you can eat buffet or $2.99 Prime Rib dinner.
I now have 2 Indian casinos within a 20 minute drive of my house, another 4 within an hour drive and they just aren't fun.
We took a friend's mom to one of her favorite Indian casinos like two years ago, and all the type slot machines she liked are gone. The basic, three reels, win if it lines up on the center line or in an X pattern. Now slots often are just TV screens with 8 or 10 lines, You can bet one coin, or 8 or 10 lines. she just didn't find any of those fun.

Some people find it entertaining I guess. To me it is just throwing money in the trash, but that's me.

I love the casino! I go a couple of times a month because the nearest one is an hour away. I'd go more if it was closer. I also love Vegas as a quick getaway.

I've built up comps over the years and can now get free hotel rooms pretty much anytime I want at the 2 closest ones as well as $20-50 in meal credits per day. It's a nice little one or two night getaway with the girls. We usually stay at the pool during the day and gamble at night. I've also seen some good concerts with comped tickets, the latest being Benson Boone. I do usually come out ahead even if it's just a hundred dollars. I'm careful with how I play and only bring what I'm willing to lose.

Here are two pics of my big wins last month:

I love a big fancy casino but don't always gamble. Even if I do, it's more just to pass the time. I hate slots and don't feel comfortable at table games, but I do really enjoy sitting down at a casino bar with video poker machines. That way, I have a bartender right there to get my complimentary drinks and tell me exactly how much I need to be gambling to qualify for comp vs. buying. It's also good for conversation while DH is off playing blackjack. I've never been big on the casino buffets but have found that most of their 24 hour cafes have really good food for better pricing.

I'm not a fan of casinos, couldn't even tell you where the nearest one is to me. I like playing some of the games, Blackjack, Roulette etc but I recognise how easy, too easy, it is lose a lot of money and I'm a bit wary of that. Shame as the games are enjoyable.

Went to Vegas on holiday once and it was nice as a once in a lifetime vacation but I have no real interest in going back. I found the casino experience there a little too dark and claustrophobic. I didn't like the fact that you couldn't see daylight and found the air a little too stale (and this was after smoking wasn't allowed).

I like to hit a casino and play the slots every so often. But I am definitely a play the lowest amount possible type of person. I have a good time if I win enough to keep playing and don't run out of money in 15 minutes.

Well....

Our two Yuma casinos support the community events.. usually the number one sponsor

Our two Yuma casinos have built a medical facility, a school and other worthwhile reservation needs

So... it's not thrown money away.. like golf... daily rounds of M-16s being target practice.. being part of a parade of 15 ATVS headed to the Barry Goldwater bombing range

So I have a choice.. donations to the community or California fire relief fund

Folks always win... they just choose to put the winnings back into the computer...our casino.. put in a $100.00 Bill and use a guest card and by the time that 100.00 is gone you will have won $250.00...its just that a whole lot of folks don't listen to Kenny Rogers

Not really a casino guy, went to Vegas for a concert last year and never dropped a dime on gambling. I don't hate gambling or have any objection to it, I just find the novelty of watching my money disappear wears off pretty quickly.

Have a fun trip Sandy, and I hope you win some big bucks!
