Now that it’s getting warmer (maybe for some - it’s 36 degrees at my house this morning :rolleyes2) many of us will enjoy shish kabobs on the grill. Did you know not every kabob is called a shish kabob? If not, here ya go…..

I did not know this until this morning - when I say shish kabob, it’s for any meat. I learned something today, but I’m still calling a shish kabob with chicken a shish kabob - kinda like I’m still calling The Willis Tower the Sears Tower - LOL! Shish Kabobs are really good, especially if the meat was in a good marinade. So give us your thoughts on shish Kabobs today……..

What is your opinion of shish kabobs?
What meat do you like on your shish kabobs?
Or, do you like veggies only?
(multiple choice)

For Me…… I like shish kabobs, but they are pretty time-consuming to make so I don’t make them very often. Me doing this poll though is inspiring me to want to make shish kabobs sometime soon. I use a marinade from a packet called Grill Mates - if you haven’t tried this, definitely get some at your grocery store - very good! I would use this marinade for my meat, which would make the shish kabobs really good. The meat I use for shish kabobs are chicken and beef - I’ve never used shrimp or lamb - I’m not opposed to it, I just have never done it. Yep….. definitely going to make these sometime in June ::yes:: 👍🏻

I like them. Marie makes them, not on outdoor grill, a few times a year. And at one of the restaurants we go to maybe once a month, Marie always gets their chicken kabob. I usually get their grilled tilapia.

Have a great weekend, Sandy and everyone, as we remember and honor.

We make shish kabobs with steak. We only make them for very special family events, since they are a lot of work. But they are good. :)
I like chicken and shrimp, too, but seldom have them.

They are okay....maybe it is the work they take. Never had one out. Last time I did them was last year sometime. DGD was in a trying different foods stage, so we gave it a try.
Chicken or beef is my choice.

Love them HATE making them huge pain these days if I want one I’ll buy them at the grocery store premade Granted they’re not as good as homemade but I don’t have to make them and I don’t have like you know 100 of them I can just buy two or three at the grocery store and then I can just cook those I have not made homemade ones in years
I have had them in restaurants I absolutely do like them a lot Steak is my favorite I will take them with vegetables so Or just about any other meat 🥩

I love them, my family just tolerates them. It is a lot of work to prepare, but I like that I can customize each one (leaving off or including certain veggies for different family members). We probably make them at home a couple of times each summer and occasionally I'll order it in a restaurant.

I like them, but, like a PP, I must not have ever gotten a good one. Most of the time, the meat is really dried out. And in restaurants, they're served with rice, which I really don't care for.

I make them and I eat them particularly 🐑 (slurpy yum yum) but DGD does not. She thinks they are cute and won’t eat them (obviously she’s raised in the USA 🤣) and thus apropos of this timely topic I’ve marinated and frozen chicken pieces to kebab at WDW.
Oh and in her mind chicks are cute but also edible. It’s all beyond me 🤷🏽‍♀️

We often buy marinated chicken souvlaki on skewers from a Greek meat market and bbq them at home. So good!!
I like souvlaki well enough - do you have Jerusalem Shawarma in Ontario? Excellent take out. As for kabobs, it’s kind of a NO for me. The components rarely ever cook evenly and it’s not like the flavors meld together or anything, so really what’s the point? I’d rather have the same ingredients done in a stir-fry.

When I make shawarma, the meat is cooked all on one stick, then same for each veggie. All are then combined to stuff into pita bread. Eliminates the problem you pointed out. Happy cooking!

I like them; what is there bad to say about food on a stick? However... it bothers me that everything cooks at different rates. Sometimes I'll do the veg and meat on separate skewers, to avoid this. We've always used the "shish" term to mean red meat, basically beef or lamb (LOVE them with lamb). Sometimes we do chicken that has been marinated in Spiedie sauce (it's a NYS fair thing) and slide them off the stick and into a sub roll. If we are doing chicken or shrimp kebabs, I'll partially steam the veggies in the microwave, first, so the chicken or shrimp doesn't overcook, or so the veggies don't come out crunchy (not a favorite with DH).

Dating myself but "Mixed Grill" was often on restaurant menus and that started me enjoying them.

When first married we counted pennies and a good way to serve a "fancy" meal was shish kabobs. I could buy a cheaper cut of beef then marinate it well, chicken, variety of peppers, onions and grill on a skewer. It was pretty and tasted good.

I have not made them in years, we do a deconstructed ~ all the ingredients but grilled in a tin foil pod. No skewers.

I like lamb too, veggies go on different skewers, it’s not like you eat the food on a stick. I prefer a yogurt garlic marinade, overnight.
