I bought a box of mint and a box of Jolly Rancher candy canes this year. Some years, they don’t get eaten. I think I’m going to make some dark chocolate peppermint bark this year and I’ll crush up the mint ones for that. Merry Christmas @slo and fellow DIS friends!

I don't buy any. I don't particularly like them and they take so long to eat.

l like them okay but not enough to buy them. My kids aren't crazy about them either. Give us chocolate instead.

I use them to make peppermint bark. Sometimes I put them in tiny little decorative stocking on the tree. I bought the two boxes of the small ones this year and didn’t even use 1 full box. These might be too tiny for the stockings.

DH will eat them occasionally throughout the year.

I love peppermint, but I seldom buy candy canes. They tend to get sharp and cut my tongue when I try to eat them.

We used to hang them on the tree, not in recent years though. Not sure why, I'm not in charge of buying them, ha.

And a very Merry Christmas, Sandy, for you, Kevin, Katie and all your family.

I do have to add an edit to the above though. I know all the others here, every weekday, appreciate you and your fun, thought-provoking polls. We all recognize you. :thumbsup2

I really only like the cherry flavored ones so I don't really bother with them anymore. I would always take them of the tree when I was younger though lol

If I'm gifted one, I'll eat it or put it in hot cocoa, but I can't remember the last time I bought a candy cane. I had no idea of their origin so that is interesting.

I haven’t bought any in years. I used to put them on my tree and then eventually throw them out.

My dh came home with a few after his office party so I just stuck them in my tree.

I like peppermint schnapps - does that count?

I typically do not like any hard candy but I do like mint, so I buy Andes candies, peppermint patties, or the peppermint kisses. I think they're wonderful but my boys always said eating chocolate and mint tasted like they were eating chocolate while brushing their teeth.

I bought candy canes this year, some for my Godson to put on the tree, and some chocolate mint ones for me. I like the regular peppermint ones, but these seemed good. They're just okay.

My wife bought some to crush for a couple of cookie recipes, She likes them, but admits, those recipes would have been just as good with just mint flavoring.

I always buy them, but also always have some left over. 😆 DS and I might eat one or two each, and sometimes I crush a few for peppermint bark, but they must always be available in my house at Christmas for any children who visit, because my grandmother always did that. :goodvibes

We have individually wrapped candy canes that we use to decorate the tree. I replace them every few years; they start to look a little melty after a while!
We do the same . Pack them in an old peanut butter jar, inside a ziplock bag. Don’t want to give ants a party in July.

walmart rant. Was adding them to gift bags for kids, bought two boxes with grocery pickup. I bought two boxes, thinking one or two would be broken. Out of 24, 14 would broken. Not just the hook was cracked, one box was crushed. They did refund the money, but still another trip for me To get more.

I don’t think I’ve ever purchased candy canes. If I receive any, they get thrown away.

Before COVID, I used to notice TONS of unsold candy canes well into January. It seems stores have gotten better about not over ordering them.

Thank you so much Dan - your posts mean so much to me :goodvibes
Merry Christmas and God Bless you and your family!!!

I don’t buy the. Unless I specifically need them for a recipe. When they kids were small they were always given them and we even had some at work this year. I like them but there are a lot of better Christmas treats to buy.
