Drinking wine is a very popular thing to drink, for many people, every day. TV shows and movies show people casually drinking wine like some people drink soda. So I ask today…..

Do you drink wine?
If yes….how often?
Do you drink it at home, restaurants or other place?
(multiple choice)

For Me……I drink very little wine and because of that I’m very ignorant in regards to wine - I have no idea what should be drank with what type of meal - I know nothing . We always have a white Zinfandel for the holidays - everyone likes that. My 2 main reasons for not drinking wine are the same as not drinking soda or frappachino type drinks - I don’t want the calories and I don’t want to buy it (I’m such a cheap a$$). My best girlfriend drinks wine every day and she’s always complaining how the wine is contributing to her gaining a lot of weight, and that is true - drinking steady alcohol will make you gain weight. If I’m going to consume something that’s going to make me gain weight, I‘d much rather have a DQ Blizzard - it’s yummier and cheaper, and even that I haven’t had since Labor Day - LOL!

I drink wine. Usually a couple times a month when out with friends. My husband doesn’t drink wine so I don’t often drink it at home, the bottle tends to get funky before I finish it.

This weekend is our annual girls wine weekend. Headed out in a few to meet 6 friends for a weekend of food, wine, and laughter. It’s one of my favorite weekends of the year.

I'm not a wine drinker but I always shared a glass (or two) of Fairbanks White Port with my Mom every Thanksgiving. This Thanksgiving will obviously be different.
Kitty - forgive me for not knowing. Did your mom recently pass away?
Hugs to you

Sounds like a blast!
Have so much fun! :flower:

I love a dry white wine! But I’ve become more of a spritzer person over the past 5 years or so. And now it just tastes too strong if I don’t water it down.

I love wine! I’ll drink it anywhere as long as I’m in good company. Alas, almost nobody in our social circle drinks and we’re got family members in recovery, so it’s really not all that often.

I love wine/I’ve enjoyed going to the food and wine festival in Epcot and learning about Wines for years - I’ve read books about them too I’m no expert nor do I claim to be i just drink what I like I don’t try to pair my wine with my food I just pair my wine with what I like or whatever I’m in the mood to drink at that time
I probably drink a bottle a month I just buy what I like I try to keep my wine refrigerator stocked I usually buy wine twice a year
I prefer a sparkling wine or white wine I do like some Rosa but I do not care one bit for red wine I’ve never developed a taste for it
But I will use it to cook with
I like going to the store when they’re giving out samples so you can try new wine without having to buy the bottle and see if you like it great way to try wine!
Now if I’m in the mood for a high end bottle wine I’ll just borrow one from my boss because he has an extensive collection of wine and he buys really nice wine so upon occasion he lets us have some so then I get to have fancy wine 🍷

Used to adore wining and dining in restaurants often - I love pairing different wines with foods - and red's my favorite. But the cost of doing anything has gotten so ridiculously expensive in Florida- COL has zero relation to the average person's earnings.

A glass of cheap house wine often runs about $15-17 now- and restaurant entrees that used to be in the high teens/low '20s run $30s and $40s. Hard pass.

I've cut back drastically on dining out, so just enjoy wine at home now or when on vacation.

There really is no "right" wine to drink with a meal. If you like cabernet and enjoy it with a seafood dish -that's perfectly fine. That being said -there are certain wines that generally pair better with specific types of food. So, a crisp, slightly acidic white(I'd go with Gruner Veltliner) is great with seafood. For instance, if you were eating dessert a sweeter wine pairs well with it because your sense of taste has already focused on the dessert -making the sweetness of the wine less intense(balance). That same wine with a steak would taste sicky sweet to most people(unbalanced), so you pair it with a red that has components of dark fruit, "leather", etc.

I drink a fair amount of wine -although not as much as I used to and passed my Level 1 certification so have a fairly strong understanding of the concepts and science behind it. I tend to prefer Reds(Cabernet, Pinot), but love whites as well(Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand, a Dry Reisling).

Understanding it can all be very confusing and with holidays coming up -I'd suggest people go to a local wine shop and have them help choose a couple bottles. Life is too short to drink bad wine!

I don't like red wine and I rarely have white wine. I will have a glass of Riesling when I am at a nice restaurant once in awhile, mostly at WDW.

At Food and Wine today, I’ll raise a glass(or two) to you @slo - I would say don’t let not knowing about wine be a barrier from enjoying it. We have a local SMB wine boutique store nearby - we started going to their tastings for similar reasons to just enjoy wine and learn about it. Have to start somewhere - wine is all about your personal tastes - explore and have fun with discovering that next best glass!

I usually drink wine in a restaurant. I will sometimes have it at home, but I have been on WW for the last few months, so I have been abstaining - too many points. 🙄🍷

A few times a month. My favorite is sparkling wine, but I also drink reds and roses. I'm not a huge fan of white wine because it feels wrong without bubbles, like drinking flat soda. I also enjoy a nice sangria or Aperol spritz.

I also love drinking Spanish vermouth.

A few times a year. I have to be careful due to medication I take.

No. Never. Not to say I have not tasted wine before, just do not see/taste the appeal of it. I would much rather have a good mixed drink but I don't do alcohol very much. I much prefer soda or even seltzer water.
I used to watch a lot of soap operas back in the day & was always amazed at the amount of wine & cocktails consumed, lol.

Not my preferred adult beverage, but it definitely is DW's and I drink a glass with her now and then if she doesn't want to drink a glass alone.
