I think ours are in the $3-$4 range. I remember prior to the pandemic a dozen large eggs was $1.09, and were sometimes on sale for .99

Fortunately we don't consume a lot of eggs here, a dozen will last 2+ weeks.

Egg prices here are about in the same range as the rest of you - above $4 but less than $5. This is roughly $1 more than they were pre-pandemic.

Avian flu is doing it

Yep, it’s been all over the news that avian flu is on the rise again.

Buffalo NY area…
I bought cage free eggs at wegmans yesterday, on sale for $2.99, normal price $4.49. Regular eggs were $4.29/ dozen; $6.43/ 18. I’ve never gotten cage free before, but since they were on sale I got those. Actually, we don’t eat eggs, except I’ll have a very occasional egg salad sandwich. So I would normally only buy 6 eggs at a time, to use for baking. But when the prices are this high, it’s just as economical to buy a dozen.

A dozen eggs yesterday at Fry's (a Kroger store) was $4.49).
I usually buy at Costco, but I don't want that many eggs right now.
I live in a central AZ

Avian flu is doing it

This. I live in northern Michigan and shop at a local store. At my store the cage free store brand eggs are usually $3.99 a dozen which is their normal price. However, Egglands Best is about $5.45 a dozen and the regular store brand eggs were up to $8.99 at one point.

Avian flu is killing off a huge portion of the egg laying flocks which is what is causing the egg prices to spike so much. Also, Michigan recently passed a law requiring all eggs to be from cage free chickens so while that doesn't help, the cage free eggs have not gone up at our local store because those flocks have not been hit by the avian flu. Of course now it is the new year and the new law is going into effect so we will see if and how it influences egg prices.

I’ve got to say, I rarely look at the price of grocery items when I shop. I know what I want, I go in and buy it and get out. At almost 62 I’m not worrying about the price of food -or beer for that matter! 😂

They had come down for a while, but are back up to 3 to 4 bucks. That's pretty high for a dozen regular eggs in my opinion. I go through phases where I eat eggs a lot, but at that price, I don't worry about it too much.

Eggs at our Aldi (Western MD) were $4.74 a dozen Wednesday with a limit of 1. I buy Egglands Best and paid $5.49 for 18 count extra large ones at Walmart.

Safeway had a deal for 30 for $5.99 starting today. They took them out of stock here to not sell the deal.
So, lowest price there is $4.99/dozen for the Lucerne brand.

FL near Disney and it's about $4.50-4.99 a dozen. Which I had to look up because I also don't pay too much attention to prices. I just try to buy all I can on sale. And do know my 3 little bags of groceries (for just the 2 of us) are now like $200-300 and I used to be able to get a cart full (for 5 of us) for that cost 7 years ago.

Bought a dozen of eggs a couple of days ago at Kroger, they were $3.79. Last week they were on sale for $1.99 (limit 5) but I couldn't get to the store.

Last week they were $3.87 at my small local market in Metro Detroit. Definitely expect them to go higher because the bird flu is lurking still, even locally. There was just a story in the news yesterday about bird flu showing up again right in our metro area.

I buy Eggland's Best all the time and they are always $3.99 but I have seen them cheaper at Lidl--in the $2.50 range most of time. If I go to Safeway or something like that, they are at least $4.99 unless they are have a coupon deal.

The best price at my local grocery - $6.49 $4.99 for an 18pk ($.28 per egg)IMG_1161.jpeg

Some of the others go really high, like $12 a dozen for a cage free brand.

Cheapest dozen is $3.99. Surprisingly that is for one of the bigger eggs and a name brand.

I bought a dozen of standard store brand white eggs at Giant in northern Delaware. I think they were $5.09 or $5.19.

I noticed in the Acme (The Ak-a-me ;)) circular that starting today 30 eggs are $5.99. (Digital coupon Limit 1) Those circulars are printed weeks in advance and I wonder if Acme will honor that price.

Egg prices rose again around here in the last month or so. The local grocery chain has a dozen large brown eggs for 4.99, and white for $6.49. Walmart has a dozen white large eggs for $4.53.

An article I read recently stated the higher egg prices may linger through much of 2025.
