I’m very excited about this poll today.

The price of eggs by me in NW Indiana is outrageous. Tuesday, when I went to Aldi a dozen was $3.97. Wednesday, when I went to Aldi ( I forgot to buy something on Tuesday) a dozen was $4.57, so I bought them, because who knows how expensive they will be next week. Yesterday, when I was at Jewel (local grocery chain) a dozen was $5.99 (the picture below is from my store yesterday). I just can’t get over how expensive eggs are. Are these prices horrible everywhere, or just by me? Enquirering minds want to know……..

What is the price of eggs by you?
Where do you live?
(multiple choice)

*Please take a quick moment to post your price and location - I’m, and others, are very interested to know.
Thanks!

For Me…….As I mentioned above, I’m in NW Indiana, which is considered the Chicagoland area and at Jewel they are $5.99 (picture below ⬇️)

I just got a dozen eggs at the smallish supermarket near my home for $3.69. This is New Jersey right across the border from Philly. When I went to ShopRite last week in the next town over from me the eggs were over $4 and scarce, but that might have been because we were getting snow the next day.

NY - I usually shop in Shoprite - prices have gone up a bit again. I have not seen a dozen for less than $4.99 in a while.

I’m sorry I won’t be able to tell you right now how much eggs are because we have snow and when we get snow everybody around here buys bread milk and eggs because they act like they’re never gonna get it again I don’t know what this phenomena is about but they have done this as long as I can remember And sadly I’m out of bread and I cannot get a loaf of bread to save my life right now because we got a snowstorm last weekend so there’s no bread anywhere in any store near me let alone milk or eggs the last time I bought eggs which was probably two weeks ago They were under four dollars so I am very curious to see how much they are but I can’t check that right now by going to the store because it’s snowing! So I’m sure the stores marked them up because they knew there would be a run on bread milk and eggs Because I guess people sit around and eat French toast when it snows???
Checking my Target app it says $3.99 out of stock just like the bread🤣🤣🤣🤣 but Target is always cheaper than the grocery store
Walmart App $4.53 out of stock - The only thing they have in stock is Egg lands Best $7.53😳😳 wow would love to know what the local grocery stores are selling them for - Costco too but Costco just recalled their eggs

I live in the Chicago suburbs and buy my eggs at a small, local store. The eggs cost $3.99 a dozen. I don't know how long that it will stay that price, but I will buy their eggs no matter what price they charge.

I'm in the Maryland suburbs between DC and Baltimore and I'm seeing anything from $5 - $6/dozen in Harris Teeter and Giant (biggest local chain). One freaky thing is I've seen house brand eggs running $1 or more than name brand eggs like Eggland's Best.

Anyway, I've been trying to remember to grab eggs whenever we go to Costco or Sam's Club, The two dozen put-ups are closer to $4 - 4.5 /dozen. I haven't been to Aldi or Lidl since before Christmas, but about a month ago, their prices were slightly better than the big local chains.

DH and the kids eat a lot of eggs, so I like to always have a dozen in the kitchen fridge and 1 - 2 dozen more in the basement fridge.

@slo, we are the same, $4.99 for a dozen eggs, Grade AA, at Wegmans in Delaware.

I also marked the $5 - $5.99 box as I usually buy organic store-brand eggs, and they are priced at $5.59.

Pasture-raised organic extra large are $8.49! Makes me wish we still had chickens. Those were the best eggs!! We had a small flock for years, 3 girls, and they laid the best eggs.

I live southeast PA. Don’t remember what I paid, it’s been a week or two, I’m thinking it was about $3.20 at lidi. The Aldi in my area says $3.85 for dozen of large eggs on the app.

For once, it seems my timing was good. We have about 5 dozen dated thru end of Feb,/ beginning of march.

I am in central Connecticut (Hartford area). I get my eggs delivered from the Modern Milkman but I looked last weekend while grocery shopping and they were $5-9 a dozen depending on size and type.

Looking at the Big Y website (for northern CT), a regular dozen is around $5-6.50 depending on brand. They've definitely been more scarce and more expensive around here for the past few weeks. I had my mom get me a big pack at Costco last time she went.

$4.59 for a dozen large white eggs
$5.89 for dozen brown
Both go off and on sale. Honestly the brown ones were less money the last time I went.

Did you buy 30 dozen? Resell at $5, you’ll have enough for a dole whip and a Mickey pretzel.
Unfortunately I wasn't that smart! I freeze eggs so I really didn't have to have them but I eat a ton of eggs so I try to grab them when they are on sale. People always ask me how I freeze them so here it is. I break them into an ice cube tray and once they freezevi put them in a freezer bag. To cook I put a egg cube in the skillet and they melt quickly. In recipes I let them thaw in the fridge but I normally have fresh too so I'm not stuck if I need one immediately.

I’ve heard about freezing eggs, but never tried it. We go thru about a dozen a week, unless baking or grandkids are visiting, then the eggs disappear .

We are suburbia Houston, TX.

Kroger-
Dozen Large - $2.49
Dozen Extra Large - $2.69
(HEB- about the same. I found a dozen Large for $2.49)

These are just basic store brand eggs. I know fancier varieties and brands cost more. We often buy in larger quantities from Costco. I think he usually buys in quantities of 30 from Costco. I don't remember the exact price, but when I broke out the price per egg and totaled them to a dozen, it was under $2.20 a dozen going that route.

I think the 2 dozen pack at Costco the last time we bought them were like $5.99, so about $3 a dozen.
