Anyone know how tricky it is to get a Slinky Dog lightning lane lately?

We were there last January and I set my alarm to get a Slinky LL but I hit snooze. And 5 minutest later, they were all sold out for the day. I was totally bummed since I had only really purchased Genie+ that day just for Slinky Dog.

So we're headed back in a couple weeks. I'm planning to purchase LL 7 days in advance and try to get one for Slinky Dog.

Is it easier or harder now with the new advanced purchase options?

You should be able to get it but the time may be later depending on your trip duration. Thrill Data tracks LL availability link To have the best availability you do want to book when your window opens (7am EST).

It can be done but I would recommend being ready to book this at 7AM the first day you are eligible and try to book it for later in your trip.

If you are staying offsite and not eligible to book until 3 days out it will be more challenging.

We just got back from WDW and were able to book SD @ 7 day window for New Year’s Day. As PP said, we were ready right at 7AM and the 1st available time was at 5 PM. We had wanted to do it at night anyway so that was no issue. So for planning purposes I’d say assume it will be close to your last ride of the day.

Ugh, that is a huge bummer. We are never 100% sure where we will spend each evening. The only thing we know for sure is where we will be each morning. So I'll have to see if I can figure something out. HS is one of the parks we spend the least amount of time at since there isn't much for our son. I know of one morning we will be there (and we have a lunch reservation there at 1:15 that day.) But other than that...not sure when we'll be back. Maybe I'm just not destined to ride Slinky Dog.

If you're staying onsite the 7 day window is for your entire trip. So if your HS day is later on in your vacation, you could be booking 10+ days out and have a better chance of getting a morning slot.

I'm surprised Disney hasn't put SDD on the separate LL where you have to pay extra to get or get it with a VQ. Is this not the most popular ride for LL in all of DW?

I just booked mine (arrive 1/17 so I could book 1/10). My first DHS day (1/18) I think the return time was later afternoon, but I booked our last day 1/23 and got 9:05-10:05am.

We just got back too, split stay over New Year's. Jan 1 was middle of our trip and we got Slinky for like 11am or so, booking in advance. Good advice from @Apiary, in that you'll probably have more options the further out in your trip you book.

For sure it is one of the harder LL to get.
Booking SDD first at 7am on the nose and planning DHS later in your trip is a good idea. I.e. Make DHS your last park day, but book your LLMP here first.
That thrill data site could give you information on when the SDD LL becomes unavailable each day.

My 7 day window to book opened up today. LLs for slinky dog were available everyday of my trip. The first day, the earliest time was 8pm. But the rest of the week, the first available was 1:30-2pm. So, you should definitely be able to grab a LL for it. It just might not be at the most convenient time.

We don't have APs or anything that require a park reservation.

Yes, you can buy LLMP for Hollywood Studios and book SDD even though you are starting the day elsewhere. But you won't be able to book LLs in another park until you have tapped in to one of your Hollywood Studios LLMP reservations.

Thanks. I figured that was the case. And if we were to book a LL at our first park, I assume we couldn't book elsewhere until that one is used.

I really have a feeling I won't get on SDD this time around either. We don't like much at HS so really only planned to spend one morning there and one evening there over the course of our 6 days. And both fall earlier in our trip so we shall see, I guess.

I booked today as it is my 7 day period and was able to get slinky for the third day of our trip with no problem. You just need to be flexible on the time. I had a variety of times to chose from but was actually looking for late afternoon so no problems at all

If you aren't able to get it at a desirable time, another option is to rope drop HS and head straight to Slinky Dog Dash. As long as you are at the gate 45 minutes before opening you will be able to ride it with little to no wait. Don't let all the opening crowd scare you as some to them will turn right for Sunset Blvd attractions and many more will head to Galaxy's Edge.

Or, grab the available time and try to modify. We've had great luck with this.
