Sleeping places for 4 adults in 1-bedroom on Magic?

I totally get it. We all have our budgets. I've looked longingly at those 2 bedrooms, thinking they'd be just perfect, but then financial reality sets in. Nothing wrong with 2 rooms, especially if it will increase everyone's comfort. As for concierge or not, unless you think your mom won't want to come to your room to share your balcony, I don't see the problem. Have you asked her what her preference is? I bet she'll agree with you about the 2nd room.

I will definitely talk to my mom about the second room thing. It would be not easy to get the truth out of her :)))

When we were in the Family Verandah three of us, - her, me and my daughter, - my mom kept suggesting to switch with me, so I would sleep on the bed, and her - on the sofa :)) She even suggested she would switch with my daughter for the upper berth :)) So I told her, that we want her to be healthy, so she should sleep on the big bed - for everybody's sake. After that she got it, and slept on the bed no problem :)))

So I would need to come up with something reasonable for her :)))

So I know this will be a more, but less than the 2bdrm conceirge with 4 people, but if I'm guessing your sailing correctly, it looks like the connecting 8024 is available. Like I said, it's probably more than you want to pay, but it is less than the 2 bdrm and you'd still be all together.

Thank you, FigmentSpark!

8022 + 8024 would be great. 2-bedroom would be even better :))) But you are right again - this is more than I'm willing to pay :crutches:

I read couple posts about families staying in different rooms, and one lady described how they were always running between two rooms, and could not meet anywhere. For some reason the wave-phone thing didn't work for them.

I can totally imagine myself running like this :scared: When we were even staying in one room with my mom and daughter, who was 16 at that point, I would always make my daughter to take the wave phone with her, but she would rarely pick up or text me back: she would get so excited I guess, that would not hear the phone, and later would swear that the phone was silent :hyper2:

On the last night of the cruise my daughter went to watch cartoon, which was ending at 12.30 am, so I knew she would not be back till 12.45 (we watched the same cartoon with her the previous night). But I was so tired, that I decided to finally go to bed earlier. I figured, she had a key, she was 16, and this was Disney ship. She had two little boys with her too, she met on the ship, who were 8 and 10. So I explained all this to my mom, and we both went to bed. But my mom is all about her granddaughter, and always is worried about her: as soon as I would fall asleep, she would wake me up - to tell that "she is not back yet!" It would not matter, that I told her the time etc. :listen: She would still wake me up every 10-15 minutes: she just could not fall asleep I guess, and could not stand to deal with the excitement by herself :flower1:

So I can imagine - if they would be staying by themselves in the room, my mom might get MI, if my daughter decides to go somewhere by herself :fish:And I would not be there - to do CPR on her :crutches: :)))

So I just figured, if I would still not be able to wrap my head around the price of two-bedroom, or 1-bedroom + adjacent verandah, - we would just stay in one-bedroom. It's 5 nights - not 2 weeks after-all. :santa:

I am not sure if you have been on a cruise before (sorry I skimmed the thread), but I would never put four adults in one room. That would be beyond miserable, no matter how much you like each other. I would never even put two parents and two older teens in a room. I would stay in two rooms in the cheapest category available. Disney cruises ARE ridiculously expensive, so I understand where you are coming from. This is just my opinion. And we do tend to be thrifty.

Thank you. I know what you are talking about. We did stay - three little women - in family verandah room. And we were totally fine.

But with my husband going too, with him being 6ft and liking go to bed early, - I don't even consider one room for four of us.

I booked one-bedroom - which does have two rooms and two bathrooms. The sleeping places are not that great for four adults in this room, that is my concern. And also - of course - we would not be able to use the living room, while people are sleeping there.

If it was not Christmas cruise, which are much more expensive then "simple" ones, - I would just book two-bedroom, if I felt for us the need to stay together. Or more likely - I would just book two adjacent verandahs. But Christmas cruise is going to be crowded, and I thought it would be so nice, if we had the room where we can be together just by ourselves etc. In one-bedroom you can even book food from MDR, and eat it in the room, without going anywhere.

Unfortunately we can't do Christmas Cruise outside of the time when everybody is on vacations. My daughter (hopefully) will be in college that year, so we just would not be able to go in November or early December (which I would have much preferred).

I found this picture on my computer, which I saved more then a year ago, when I just started get interested in doing a cruise. I had no idea at that point, what kind of room this was. And I can not remember where I got it - so I apologize in advance to the owner of the picture that I can't quote him or her.

But I'm going to post this picture here, as I think it is very much helpful for imagining how both beds are looking in middle 1-bedrooms on classic ships, where the murphy bed is in a living room.

I think we are going to be just fine with one-bedroom, assuming we get extra mattress for the sofa bed. We are not that spoiled-in-luxury people :))))

I read somewhere, that both sofa and murphy beds are easy to be put away by yourself, if you need them out of the way in the morning - before the steward does it.

Me and my husband would wake up early, we would have our own bathroom, would be able to get to the balcony from our bedroom - as the balcony my must-do-first-thing-in-the-morning. After that we can just leave the room and get something to nibble + coffee. And when the other party would wake up, we would be able to put the beds away, and have hot breakfast in a room for everybody, without fighting the crowds in buffet.

The cruise is still so far away, but I am already looking forward to all this things :))))

Thank you VERY MUCH, FigmentSpark!

Those are the one-bedrooms with a murphy bed in the bedroom. I'm sure these are very nice too. All those suites look very nice really.

But "OUR" room 8034 is going to be even better :)))

People say those middle-ship 1-bedrooms have nicer configuration, which makes them look bigger. And also murphy bed in the living room is so much more convenient for us, so we can keep things relatively private, and kind of keep everybody comfortably on their own schedules: by my experience doing the cruise with my mom and daughter, - they always would sleep late. And me and my husband like to wake up early, and walk around the ship while it is still empty :)))

You are going to have a blast on your cruise and your room is amazing! We have been in 8534 and there is definitely room to accommodate 4 people, especially if you know in advance what the layout is and everyone is happy with it! Yes, you can put the sofa bed up yourself, super easy, and make even more room available. And if you are in a suite, like you said, you can order in concierge/dining room breakfast for everyone which is a really luxurious way to start the day. Not to mention, you can do the same thing dining in your suite with dinner- which I feel affords much better quality conversation during dinner, rather than trying to compete with the noise and distractions in the main dining rooms. Though the dining rooms can be fun and entertaining, it is nice to have the option of a full course meal in your suite.
Enjoy your cruise!

Thank you VERY MUCH, Сoloradocutie! :rose:

Your post is very encouraging. As before people were telling me that 4 people would be uncomfortable in this room.

And I was quietly thinking to myself - probably I was not understanding something, but I felt like we would be O'K :))) It is just when you pay that kind of money, you feel like everything MUST be prefect, otherwise you are not getting your money worth, and stuff like that.

But it is really unproductive to feel this way. We can't go other time, when it is cheaper to do Christmas Cruise. And I really want that Christmas Cruise with Disney - in a nice relaxing way. So it is worth FOR US.

In the last several years I came to the conclusion, that our family travel experiences were the best purchases I made in my life.

JoieNSK, I do not think you will regret or be disappointed with your trip as you have thought it out and really know what is important to you for your vacation. You want to go at Christmas (which will be special and festive) and you want to do so in a suite so that you can be with those you are going with. And you are on a Disney cruise. With loved ones. Sounds amazing and it hasn't even started :)

We have always enjoyed staying in the concierge suites, not as much for the concierge perks, but for the spaciousness of the rooms. Really, they are ridiculously large compared to all of the other staterooms on the ship, except for the 2 bedroom and the royals. (Last cruise my 7 yo called out "Dad, where is mom?!" in the stateroom. (I was just in the other room!) The suites are large enough to lose a family member!) We feel that that spaciousness really allows us to focus on the enjoyment of just being together. Yes, we like to see princesses, and walk the promenade deck, and I love any meal that someone else is making for me, but I really love being with those I love. There is a lot of entertainment on the boat that can keep you going all day and into the night, but I feel that a real perk of the suites is that the space is so abundant and the layout is conducive to hanging out , it can become a destination in and of itself. I don't think all of the space is needed to enjoy a cruise, and yet every time we stay in a suite, I can see how the extra suite space facilitated great moments and great memories with each other.

I agree. There is a lot of places and things on which one can spend money, but investing in family time and traveling really pays back wonderfully!!!

Oh, and you are going to love the "triple wide" verandah. Love. Love. Love.

I can't agree more.

I'm sure we will love that suite. And - yes - whenever we go on vacations all together - even though my daughter is going to be almost adult that year - it is always turn out to be great time. I like going with my husband, just two of us. But FAMILY vacation - is totally different thing.
