DD needs a new, more grown up sleeping bag. She is getting rather tall, so it will need to be an "adult" version. She really loves pink, purple, polka dots, stripes and all that jazz....but I really love a price better than over $100 at Pottery Barn!! Any ideas?:confused3

If she's going to be sleeping outdoors in it at all, make sure that it is decent quality for warmth and moisture resistance. That may make it pretty plain, though.

If I were in that position, I'd buy a plain warm one in a color that she likes, and invite her to personalize it with fabric paints.

Check out the clearence/overstocks section of Lands End.com I have seen some cute ones there before for around $30 or $40.

I wanted to reinforce NotUrsula's comment about getting a real sleeping bag over a slumber party bag. If you know your DD won't ever go to camp or go camping, then the lightweight slumber party bags work. But, for camps, you really want a good quality, tested bag. They last a long time and are worth the price. DD15 has a good one because she's been doing sleep away camps since first grade. Last summer she took it on a canoe/bike trip at Camp Miniwanca in Michigan.

I have a Coleman sleeping bag that is fine. It's from Walmart. My hubby has a very nice LLBean bag that was a gift. I second that if she is going to do any camping or attend a summer camp, she needs a "real" sleeping bag. I still have mine from when I was 10 and started going to sleepovers and camp. It is a Hillary brand (sold by Sears). Some of the Coleman and LL Bean bags come in fun colors.

My neice has a sleeping bag from little people's cove that is really nice. I'd considered ordering a bigger bag for DD8 but haven't done it yet. I won't be procrastinating too much longer though b/c their sale ends Oct 31.

If you want one of the bags made from a fabric swatch in time for Christmas they reccommend ordering before Nov 5. The selection of fabrics is really nice though and you can add optional linings.

For some odd anti-budget reason, this company tends to show the most expensive items first so be sure to scroll down the page for more reasonable prices... http://www.littlepeoplescove.com/gislbatotote.html

I took my GS troop camping and half of them had the cute girlie sleeping bags and they froze! Those are definately for indoor use only.

Don't know if they still have them, but over the summer, Target had pink camoflague sleeping bags. I am not sure what temperature rated they were, probably around 40 degrees. This is what my kids have and we tent camp. They just always have a blanket too, just in case.

I also bought my daughter's sleeping bag from Target. It was the fuchsia camouflage but they had other colors. She's 10 btw.

Thanks everyone, I am checking out all of your ideas now! And btw, she doesn't do camps or anything, but I may consider getting a better one just in case we should ever go camping(not really campers here though!) I'm gonna go see what I can find!

Thank you, thank you, thank you for the Little People's Cove link!! I found these last year but was waiting to get them for the girls this year. Just this morning I was searching for the name of the site and couldn't find it - I can't believe I found it here at the Dis!! Now I just have to have the girls pick out a color and call my mom because she wants to get them for Christmas I think.:banana:
