Sleeping around the ship (just curious)

I'm the kind of guy who can fall asleep quickly and fall asleep anywhere. Maybe I'm a narcoleptic; I dunno.

I was wondering - suppose I stayed up late after my family went to sleep, took my Kindle to the Atrium (let's say, Fantasy, Deck 4) to read for a while, and then promptly passed out in one of those chairs. Would a CM wake me up, or just let me be? What about outside on Deck 4 or Deck 12 (again, Fantasy)?

I know they'd be cleaning and vacuuming, which might wake me up. But is it within their discretion to leave me alone, or are they required to shoo sleeping people out of public areas? Just curious.

Haha! My mind went way in the gutter on this one!:rotfl2:

I think after a certain point the do shoo you away. However I've taken many a mid day nap on one of the deck 4 chairs. I know some public spaces are officially closed and they do often move the deck chairs around for cleaning and maintenance so at some point someone is going to have to ask you to move between midnight and like 5/6 am.

I've taken naps in various places around the ship especially on sea days, however as a solo cruiser I have my stateroom to myself so I've never wandered around in the evening looking for a place to sleep.

I've seen *many* people asleep at Satellite Falls (like two dozen or more) but that was after a particularly rough night. My wife was one of those sleeping.

I've seen people asleep on the loungers on the Promenade at late hours but don't know how long they were there.

It all seems pretty unusual, though. I've not seen it happen regularly. Nothing like all the people asleep under blankets in the MUTS area of our last Princess cruise. People were passed out in several of the chairs.

On my first DCL cruise I woke up around 1am and couldn't get back to sleep. I went looking for a quiet place to read so I wouldn't disturb DW. I was also curious what went on during that time of night (or morning). Cleaners and maintenance CM were everywhere but I found an out of the way place to read in the atrium to read. Across the atrium was a man sleeping in a chair. At one point an officer came by to ask if everything was OK. I think he was politely asking why I wasn't in my cabin at that hour. He accepted my explanation and then went over to the sleeping man, woke him up and after they talked a bit the man left, I assume to return to his cabin. The CM immediately moved into the area to clean it.

I've been up in the middle of the night on the ship due to motion sickness. I've stretched out in guest services and on the open air deck. It was hard to sleep but the CM's left me alone. I'm sure after a short period of time they would wake you to find out if you are ok.

I have seen them wake people in the lounge chairs next to the atrium but never on deck 4 outside or topside.

Let me just start off by saying after the crazy bad day Im having at work today your post cracked me up. Not because my mind was in the gutter but because I could imagine walking past someone at lets say 3 am thats passed out on lawn chairs thinking should I wake them up. Lol
To be honest I was wondering the same thing also. I plan to sleep on the verandha if my husband snores all night. Luckily I booked a room with extended verandah:)

:offtopic: Just make sure you close the door so you don't disturb the a/c of other cabins around yours! :)

Yeah, I was wondering - what if they woke you up and you said something like "My husband is snoring so bad, I can't sleep, and I don't feel safe sleeping on the verandah", or "My wife and I just had a huge fight and I can't be in the same room with her right now"? Would they let you stay, or still shoo you away?

What about the BV Theater? Seems that would be relatively isolated and well-removed from the cleaning crew hubbub, but I'm guessing it is locked up after the last show.

My DD(Adult) on a family trip, stayed up on deck all night without anyone bothering her.

Lol honestly our first cruise will be Nov 2017 so I have no clue. I imagine you could "nap" anywhere as long as you dont have a nightstand with alarm clock lamp and room service set up ;)

I doubt they would force you back to the cabin, more "you don't have to go home but you can't stay here". Or rather, "we need to clean here but we finished the pool deck if you would like." Of course, I imagine though if you get to the pool deck at 4 AM every chair would already be claimed ;)
