Anyone have one?
I have a bad back. terrible pain. No matter what, I have pain.
I have a bad disc, but not bad enough for surgery, or even an ESI. So I was considering one of these beds?

Thoughts?

We just stayed in a hotel this past weekend that had them. It was ok...ok at best. I wasn't overly impressed. I guess I had a good night's sleep, but I brought my number down so low, it was in the teens. DH had his in the 40's.

Maybe others will chime in and have a different experience. For the two nights we slept on it, it didn't make me want to run out and buy one.

A friend of mine bought one and has had some of the pump mechanism replaced 2 times in 2 years. It won't hold the airpressure so one side keeps "deflating". Other than that she really liked it.

Ok. I have read mixed reviews....
A friend has one and loves it for his back (ruptured disc)....

Ours is very comfortable. I can walk in the mornings, again!

Mikeeee

If you would like, I can give you a code for a little discount. PM me and I will look up the number for you.

I also tried it out in a hotel, and I felt like I was just on a run of the mill blowup mattress. When I would move from side to side the mattress would shift, creating a rolling sensation. I didn't find it comfortable at all.

We have one. I don't recommend it. We needed to put several layers on top of the sleep number mattress, including a thick featherbed. Without all those auxiliaries, the mattress was not comfortable at all.

Do yourself a favor: Get a good traditional mattress.

I have a "good" (expensive) mattress.... I hate it.

Thanks though.

We have one.

My wife loves it.

I like it. One reason: if my back starts hurting I can pump up the stiffness until it is very firm. However, for the most part, a bag of air is not all that comfortable. Again, however, my wife sleeps like a baby on it.

Consider a waveless waterbed then.

LOL, that's what we had before this mattress.... When we went to the Dolphin last trip, the beds were SOOOOO comfortable, I told DH on the phone that when the waterbed went, I was getting the same beds that they had at the Dolphin.... Lo and Behold, we weren't home a week or so and the waterbed sprung a leak (it was about 6 years old) :confused3 . So I bought the same mattress they had at the Dolphin. Worked ok for a year or so.... now I can't get comfortable. Back kills me.

I don't know what to do.

Dunno what to tell you. You sound like me, i.e., very selective about your sleeping surface. I really don't think you're going to be happy with the sleep number bed. Sorry.

Yep. Do you like soft?? I think I need pretty firm and when it starts to get soft I don't like it so much..... maybe? I don't know.

We have had one for six years and LOVE it! DH has slept in the ones at the hotels and says they are NOT the same--maybe different quality? The only thing I would recommend is getting the extra set of legs for the middle sides of the bed frame. The box the mattress sets on is plastic and tends to crack in that middle area when there is no support.

The beds have lifetime (20 years) guarantee and Sleep Number will replace/repair damages parts and will even cover shipping costs as long as the damaged part is shipped back to them within the time frame they give.

I've been told that they are a glorified air mattress. :scared1:

We've had one for about 3-4 years and like it a lot. Those Heavenly beds are also very nice. Sweet dreams;)

We've had ours for a couple of years and my husband who has a back problem finds that this is the only mattress where he can get comfortable.

Before we bought this mattress I was waking up everyday with a sore back and the mattress was only a year or two old. Haven't had a problem since switching to the sleep number bed.

What we both like is that we can adjust the firmess up or down based on how we're feeling.

We have an aerobed air mattress for guests and when we have slept on it, it certainly did not compare in quality to the sleep number bed.

We've had one for 17 years...bought the first one right after the company started. Gave that one to our soon as it is a Queen...replaced the pump (at their expense) once...replaced a bladder (air mattress) once at their expense.

We now have had a King for 5 years. Not one problem and it's been moved (as in from house to house) three times. LOVE THEM!. Definately get the middle leg(s). Also always get two controls. Do NOT get the "feather top" thingy. If you need more, go to Target or someplace like that and buy a $70 memory foam topper.

We love our bed. I adjust mine when he's in bed as I'm much lighter than he is. I sink in when he's not in bed. But when both of us are there...we sleep like babies and that's hard to do at our age with the aches and pains normally associated with 60.

I'd recommend a Select comfort bed to anyone!

That's a great recommendation.
