Well, I saw the blurb on the SkyMiles portion of delta.com about the fee waiver on mileage transfers. Well I currently have a little over 22,000 miles in my account. My DS3 has a little over 4800 miles in his. Those miles will expire Dec. 2008. When I saw they were waiving the $25 processing fee and giving a bonus of 20% I jumped on it. I paid $30 (.01 cents per mile transferred) for 3,000 miles. This would give me enough for a free ticket. Or so I thought.
I guess in reality I should've checked closer. I got all excited because the flight we want is available. I didn't pay close enough attention though because its a SkyChoice flight. So that means that 25,000 miles will only pay for the first leg of the round trip flight. To pay for the entire round trip I'll have to have 50,000 miles.
I'm so MAD at myself for not checking this out further before I transferred those miles (and paid for them). Now I still don't have enough to book the round trip and I'm out $30 to boot.
Granted, the miles will still be in my account but I really wanted this free flight.
I guess my option is to book one way and pay for the other leg.
