I remember reading on here about someone winning an auction for a Food gift certificate that also had a week long voucher for a 1 week stay...

Does anyone here know what I mean?

It was not called Surf and turf but maybe Dine and Stay???

Maybe I have just gone:rolleyes1 crazy...Anyone have any idea of what I am talking about?

Also, what are the taxes and fees now associated with winning a RSG auction???

I have won a steak and stay auction. It gives you a getaway week plus $100 in gift certificates for a steak restaurant. Restaurant offers change once in awhile . I was able to win this auction for $118 US TOTAL since I had a $100 travel certificate (from a previous home and away auction) that had to be used up.

Look through auctions ending soon and you will be able to see several steak and stay (and similar type) auctions.

IMHO, an amazing value. So for $118 US we ended up with a gold crown resort in Orlando for a week plus $100 US in food gift certificates.:goodvibes

The only negative that I can think of is that unlike RSG, with steak and stay (or similar auction types) you CANNOT put the week you want on hold first. You must bid, win and then wait for skyauction to send you your code that you need to call getaway weeks. This process can take a few days. So if you see something that you really want, I would pay the extra and put it on hold through RSG, then win a RSG auction within 24 hours to secure the week.

I just checked for you on Skyauction under Auctions closing soon and found the following food/week stay auctions. Look under auctions closing soon or under search on the skyauction web site:

room & board
steak & stay
basta & pasta

Please let me know if you have any more questions.

I won 3 of these last year (the room and board ones). I think I paid around $165 for each one, because last year they didn't have the $195 fee added, but the auctions ended up closing higher. I actually sold the restaurant gift certificates on Ebay for around $60 so I had a week at a condo for about $100. Total bargain!

It is more of a gamble because you win the certificate first, but reserve your condo later. I called Skyauction after I won and they gave me my certificate number over the phone, rather than waiting for it to come in the mail. Each time they had the certificate number available within 24 hours of winning the auction. I ended up with the condos I wanted each time.

Good Luck!

Thank you all so much for all this wonderful input...:thumbsup2
