Skyauction...I JUST WON/CPGrandVilla ..now what to expect??

Oh, my heart.....I can't even type, I'm shaking so hard.

This was my first auction. It was for 7 nights, 2 bedroom, CPGrandVillas. I think the reason that hardly anyone was bidding was because they only listed one check in date (9-4-2004). Being that we homeschool and my DH is self-employed, we can go anytime. I CAN'T BELIEVE I WON THIS FOR $10! Ofcourse there are fees that total $210 so the REAL price for this is $220, BUT STILL!!

Oh, I am so excited. We weren't even planning on going this year anywhere, but I talked to DH because yesterday, I was looking on Skyauction and saw this and never saw any other bidders. I wasn't sure what was going on..........I guess it's just because of the date. Is that what some of you think, too??

Now, my question.............they emailed me and I filled out the form and paid. I think the email said someone will contact me through email to make sure everything is set up. Does that sound right??? Do I ever talk to the people at the resort??

Help?? Who has done this before?? You can't believe how incredibly spontaneous this decision was. I hope I don't get burned.

I definitely think you scored big because there was only one date posted....although I have not won an auction myself, I follow them regularly, and believe me, you scored!

I think I've calmed down now.

I know a little bit about this place, but not a lot.

I've been doing some searches on here. What is the difference between Cypress Pointe and Cypress Pointe Grand Villas?? I thought I read somewhere on Hotelkingdom that the "Grand Villas" is the new name for it. I don't think that's right though. Aren't they separate, but within the same resort??

Is the Volcano pool not near the Grand Villas, only the regular units?? I can't really tell.

Any other info anyone can provide would be appreciated. Thank you.

Buildings 1-8 are Cypress Pointe, Buildings A-G are CP Grande Villas. The volcano pool is the one just above the clubhouse ( big red X) The entire site is not that big so it is a an easy walk from any of the buildings.

Don't ya just LOVE skyauctions! I do, I'd booked 5 trips with them.

Congrad's and don't worry, they'll walk you through everything. The CPGV looks great from all my research, I'll looking into staying there in Dec. (still need to work the dates)

We just stayed at the Grand Villas and requested and got Bldg. G. We requested it because its the newest of the bldgs. on that side. We requested the top floor (5thfloor) and to face a pool. We didnt have a direct view of either of the pools on that side however we could see them both from our balcony.

Hubby drove to the pool on the other side although it was only about a couple blocks equivalent walk.

We were happy with our location and the unit. You got a good deal.

That's good to hear.

I was wondering what building I should request or if I should even request anything and wait till we get there.

We will probably be able to get there at check in which is 4:00pm, I believe.

Any thoughts on building anyone??

Effective in May 2004 Cypress Pointe Grande Villas has ended affiliation with Cypress Pointe Resort and the Cypress Pointe Resort web site. You can find them on the web at cypresspointe2.com
In 2005 or after it is expected that check in for Cypress Pointe Grande Villas will no longer be handled at the Cypress Pointe Resort Clubhouse.
The ability to use the common areas at both resorts by owners and guests will not be changed.

I just had a very similar experience. I just won an auction for Sunterra's Polynesian Isles during the same time period (Sept 4-11). I won with a bid of $1!!!!!!!! With the fees it came out to be $211!!!!!!! That is truly incredible for a weeks stay a nice resort. Before I won I had a reservation at a hotel for around $500 for the week. And I thought I had a good deal there. This Skyauction is pretty nice. Hopefully the checking in and getting our condo will be just as pleasant!

Congrats on the good deal, I am looking to do the same thing in October. Do you think I need to wait until closer to the date to get a room? Everything seems so high for the big block dates. I don't really know much about any of these places, but I'm learning slowly.

That is fantastic!! I think I saw that one. Now that I've won on skyauction, I look at it everyday to see what others are getting. It's addictive.

Last night, someone got Vistana Resort for $112 ($322 total for the week with fees)!!!! Can you believe that one??!! $46 a night for VISTANA! Whoo!

Tinkerbell13.........I wish I knew what to tell you. I'm new at this so I really don't know too much yet. But I WANT to know your answer also, because next year we go in DEC. and I want to know if I should grab it as soon as I can, or wait until a month or two before.

SKy auction is making me re-think my Windsor Palms for next year. And they have GREAT prices.
