We have had sky+ for years now and wouldn't be without it but i am getting a little frustrated with it. We have had 3 "new" boxes this year and keep having the same problem the picture keeps freezing on playback. Does anyone else have this problem? I have complained to sky and they have replaced the box but we have found out since they use refurbished boxes when people change to the HD boxes we get their old ones. I demanded a brand new box last time and they said it was but we are still having the same problem. I am thinking about telling them i am leaving sky and see what they do then !!!!!!!

Have you considered up grading to SKY HD? We have had it for two years without any problems.

We haven't got a HD tv so there doesn't seem to be any point at the moment. How much is it to upgrade now as a matter of interest?

The HD box now costs £150, more info on their website. Tell them your thinking about leaving and see what they offer you.

We have had exactly the same problem! They replaced our box and a week later we had the same problem and they replaced the box again. Whilst I dont mind whether its a reconditioned box or not I do mind if the service that I am paying for does not work correctly. On both occassions I threatened to cancel our suscription and they gave us a 'new' box free of charge as keeping a years worth of subscription is more valuable to them! I also refuse to take out the repair insurance as I feel we pay enough already.

Dont pay anything, push for all you can get, they may even offer half price repair at first but refuse it, you will get there in the end.

Another tip for anyone thats interested, we asked the engineer how much it would cost to have everything moved as we are considering moving house. I cant remember what price he quoted, but he did say that if we rang and cancelled because we are moving house and couldnt afford the instillation fee they would more than likely offer to do it for free- after all a years subscription is worth a lot of money to them!!!!

Good Luck;)

We've had Sky+ for a while now. We had a modem problem with our box which didn't affect our recording or playback. It meant thay sky couldn't dial into the box so they said we had to pay for a call out. My dad informed them that as it was a problem for them not us he wouldn't be paying. A supervisor then arrange for a new box (which meant we got an upgrade to the 40GB version) & call out free of charge. SInce then we have had no problems.

Give them a call & explain your not happy, it can't hurt.

We've got a Virgin V+ box and after a few teething troubles it now performs very well :)

It also has 3 tuners so your can record two separate channels and watch a different third channel. It's also HD - but there are not many HD channel available on Virgin yet.

Unfortunately we already pay the insurance. Thanks for the tips:thumbsup2

Reading your posts we must have been really lucky with our Sky+ boxes. We only had one before we upgraded to Sky+ HD without any problems.

They have now told us it could be a problem with the LNB so they are coming monday to change the dish. He has said it is most unusual to have a problem with 5 boxes !!!!

We had some one in to change the dish but when he came he didn't bother he just got a message up on the screen and said that should solve it. Neddless to say it didn't work so i demanded yet another call out. They have just been we explained the problem and straight away he said it is a dish problem and changed the dish. He said it has wasted them over £1000 in boxes because the previous engineeers couldn't be bothered !!!!!!! They also told us about sky talk so we have gone with that with a better deal and cheaper than BT. Now i won't be afraid to phone my friends in Orlando because of the cost :lmao:

Im really pleased to hear you finally got your sky problem sorted:thumbsup2
