Skunks!

My DH called me at work tonight to ask me to pick up some lysol. He said the house smelled like a skunk. Well, I came home and smelled nothing in the front yard until I went into the front proch and the smell was awful!! It is my cat! He was apparently sprayed tonight. My DH said he smelled the cat at 1st and couldn't smell it on him. We are leaving the cat out for the night(he has plenty of places to hide) but I am wondering how I give him a bath while it is cold outside? We had to do it a few years ago, but it was summer time. Anyone know of a way to get rid of the smell???

Aren't you supposed to bathe him in tomato juice? At least that's what the Partridge Family did...

Mix together 4 tablespoons baking soda, 16 ounces peroxide and a little pet shampoo. Rub it in and let it sit for as long as you can- be careful around his eyes. It will foam, but the peroxide actually breaks down the chemicals in the skunk spray and neutralizes them. Rinse well- it might bleach his coat a bit but that's better than a smelly cat!

At our vacation home we have skunks BAD! We always use tomatoe juice with lemon juice and baking soda to kill the smell. Hope this helps!
