I am looing for some nice skorts for our trip in August. I find them much cooler than shorts to wear. I already have some jean ones, but want some "lighter" ones for the trip. I don't live near a mall (closest is 120 miles), so I do primarily online shopping. Any ideas would be helpful - Oh yeah, I am not a small petite little thing, but a size 10 - 12.

Thanks for you help.

I don't wear shorts only skorts. I refer to them as my theme park fashion statement.

I have purchased a couple new ones this year. My favorites are from LLBean and Landsend. I also saw some on my last trip to Sam's Club, but did not try them...they looked nice but you can't try anything on at Sam's and I fear the return line.:scared1:

Good luck with your quest. Landsend always has free ship codes. I have the LLBean visa and get free ship with them too.

Land's End seems to offer a wide variety of skorts for women. I have a 7yo DD and have a ton of skorts and scooters for her - but have started to notice that they're not making them more commonly in adult sizes as well. I agree - I like the look and they are comfortable in the summer.

While they're not cooler than shorts, another thing I've started wearing are capris. Land's End makes some nice ones in lightweight material that in white are relatively cool in the summer. I have a problem where I tend to be more sensitive to the cold in the AC than the heat outside, so capris are great for me.

Land's End is having a summer sale right now, so might have some nice skorts for a fair price. And if you have a Sears somewhat nearby, you can always return there if they don't work out.

I'm a skort lover too. Found some at BJ's this year, lightweight with built-in shorts under the skort (looks like a skirt all the way around on top). I think these are more athletic wear and they are very comfy!!!

Also wanted to suggest looking at some sporting good sites since you are shopping online...last year at a golf outlet store in Hilton Head I ran into some really cute skort/top sets it pretty colors and patterns. So try some women's golf lines.

I haven't looked this year, but last year I purchased some from Kohl's. I picked them up on sale for about $12.50 each. I LOVE them! Even the blue jean pair is very lightweight and comfortable.

I love using them at the parks; look nicer than shorts, but don't have to worry about peep shows!! ;)

Check them out online and see if they are carrying them this year.

BTW, I'm a 10-12 too and they look great!

JC Penny's had some cute plaid ones in stores this year too.

I just bought 2 from JC Penny's this weekend. They were on clearance from $30 to $9.99. They had tons of plaid, khaki, navy, green, and denim. I hope you can get them online at that price. The brand is St. John's Bay.

I invested in two of the Sun Life skorts from Lands End this year -- best purchase ever. They are ripstop, and dried in 15 minutes after Kali. (With wicking undies, of course.) They are on sale right now, so I'd go for those.

I just bought a couple pairs of the Lands End SunLife Skorts online this weekend - so happy to hear they get a great review!!

I bought some lightweight, slightly dressier ones at Macy's right before we went to WDW, and they were really great. I think they were on sale for $17.99.

I also wear skorts and not shorts in the summer, and have had a harder time finding them this year. Walmart had numerous denim pair for around $12, and some twill in solids and wild prints for the same price.

Ohhhh will head to Sears for the SKORT you guys mentioned.......I saw some at Bjs but they look like shorts on back and I prefer the skirt look all the way around. Its what I wear to parks each day and LOVE them as I feel neater and covered and especially when doing a sit down meal, more appropriate......but thats just me...

My suggestion is to definately try a sport skirt. Google it and you can find lots! Athlena (a Gap company) has some great ones. You can also check places like Campmor, even Target.com Love sport skirts so comfy and really flattering.

Just a thought - although very practical, I find skorts to be too hot hot hot. It is two layers of fabric, and, although cute, I've stopped buying them for this reason. It is hot where I live, and I can't imagine skorts in Florida in August - I'd go with shorts or a skirt (just be careful how you get on and off attractions if you go with a skirt!).

I have no idea what the selection is like, but my first thought for something like this was Landsend.

I have bought some online from Champions.com. They are more like tennis skorts, but I like that they are light and dry quicker than denim or cotton :)

Tennis or golf skorts are made of very comfortable fabric that can handle the hot weather better than other fabrics. I'm sure you could those online.

I got some of these yesterday! They are really nice for the price. My DD's even liked them.

My BJ's has a version with a skirt all the way around, and shorts underneath. Brand name is Anne Klein Sport. They are very comfortable!!! Plus, they have a drawstring at the waist (on top of an elastic band) that makes them fit well. I bought solid black, white, blue and an add'l blue/white leaf pattern. Price $14.99 each IIFC. The Jones New York shirts (v-neck t-shirt) matched well in color and cut with the skorts. I've been wearing these outfits all summer...great in the high heat and humidity too.

I bought my sister some cute one's from Walmart this year. I wear skorts to golf and got 2 really cute ones with tags on ebay and they were cheap!!!
