I think that as long as it looks like a kilt you will not have any issues, even with the closed-minded bunch out there. Now if you were going to wear a black-mini I think that would be an entire different issue

My sister would probably follow you around like a puppt thinking you were from the Highlands! She is obsessed! I would probably take a second glance and just think, man that guy is brave! I am sure we have all seen worse than a man in a skirt! Have a great trip!

You have 8 posts, 4 of those are about wearing skirts at Disney...3 of those, you bumped up 3 threads that were 6 months old and got the "wear what you feel comfortable in" response.

If you are not a troll, why keep bringing up the same subject because you say you own 3 of these skirts...you must wear them if you have 3...right? I assume that if you wear them already, you plan on wearing them again in the future...So if you have made up your mind, why ask us?


Do you have any trip planning questions that we can help you with?

They are trendy in some places. I won't say I see them all the time in NYC but I've seen them often enough. Utilikilts are great.

Several of my guy friends wear them, and I'm pretty sure my friend wore his in Epcot last trip, although truthfully after a few rounds of whiskey at the Rose & Crown, I don't remember what anyone was wearing! I think my other kilted buddy wore his at Universal, and again, non issue.

I say it will really hinge on what your wife and children think. If they will be embarrassed, don't do it.

If you were my son, I would say don't do it. If you were my husband, I wouldn't have to worry about it. You wouldn't do it. Well, my son wouldn't do it either, now that I think about it.

Would you wear it at home in your hometown? If not, don't do it.
Woudl you wear it to your church picnic for the sake of comfort? If not, don't do it. Would you wear it to your dentist's office? If not, don't do it.

this thread surprises me ..i thought i was really conservative but don't understand the shocked reactions...why??? it isn't any more "revealing" than shorts, if you saw them in person they don't look like men in a woman's skirt any more than a scottish guy in a kilt does..the hiking one looks uncomfortable to me but even though my husband would never wear one ( i can barely get him to wear shorts in 90 degree temps even to cut the grass) i can't see how it would be embarrassing to be seen with someone in one or why you'd be embarrassed to wear it to a picnic or something. they don't look like someone cross dressing if that's the question.

You go as comfy as you want. If that is what you want to wear to see the Mouse, you got for it. Who cares what others think. I have seen some attire worn in the world that should have never been allowed in the park. Kilting is okay by me.

This is hilarious! Hey, I'm all for wearing whatever makes you feel most comfortable.. but it seems to me that if you've posted your question in several threads already, then your pretty concerned about the prospect of being mde fun of and if that's the case then your emotional and mental anguish while wearing the skirt is going to override any physical comfort you might find in wearing it.

Really, if the freaking skirt was soooooo much more comfortable than a pair of loose fitting shorts, then I assure you, it would not be such a rare occurrance to see a man wearing one.

My original response was going to be to suggest pairing the skirt with a t-shirt that reads: "This isn't a skirt, it's my super comfy hiking kilt" on it.

But after the past page of responses, I now think you should wear a t-shirt that reads: "Obsessed with seeking approval for my transvestite tendencies."

That is the funniest post ever! I will leave it at that so I don't offend anyone. To the OP you can wear whatever you want but some people will stare and make comments. My dd would think a man in a skirt is pretty funny. I understand being comfortable and all but as another poster said "why do you need attention"?
