skirting in disney world

I honestly don't know what to say after seeing the photo- now if that it what the original poster is talking about I would probably think- boy that guy must have lost his luggage and is wearing his wife's skirt. It is pretty plain so I don't even know if I would notice unless you were standing right in front of me and then I think one of my kids might comment- not in a bad way just a curious why is that guy wearing a skirt? So as long as you are open to commenting on the comfort factor being the reason you are wearing it I say whatever floats ....oh wait a minute....maybe that is not a good choice of words. But heck if you want to wear a skirt what do I care? I am in Disney  As long as the boys are covered I have no problem with it.

I'm a woman and I wear a skirt every day at Disney and don't wear shorts underneath. I wear appropriate undergarments and am careful getting in and out of rides - never had a problem. They aren't super short or super tight - usually a sport type skirt made out of a light sweatshirt type material or a cotton wrap skirt (with a double closure so no blowing open). They're SO much cooler (temp wise) than shorts! I absolutely don't blame you for wanting to wear one. I'd probably notice, but my reaction would be "what a great idea!" - go for it.

Learn me the trick: how do you go on Space Mountain wearing a skirt without shorts underneath??? That way, I won't have to wear shorts under my Minnie-dress! :Pinkbounc

Bottom line, here is the question you need to ask yourself.

"Do I care what other people think of me so much so that I would change to accomodate their opinions?"

Personally, my answer is "No."

If I wanted to wear a clown nose around the parks because it made me happy, to hell with what strangers think. Strangers is the key word here.

If your skirt will embarrass your children or wife, THAT'S what should concern you. If your family doesn't care, then wear what you want.

And most important, have a blast.

I was in WDW last week and saw a man in a kilt. While it is out of the ordinary to see a kilt, I really could care less.

Ok, I think the real question here is the skirt lime green????? If yes then go for it! :thumbsup2 :teeth:

As a women I have woren a skirt or dress at WDW many many times with no problem (short, long, depending on the weather.) They are nice and cool and brezzy and comfortable. I never had any problems. I don't think I gave many "free shows" more likely I did that nursing my babies. I love wearing dresses to Epcot, it is such a beatiful place.

One thing to keep in mind is if you have any meat on your bones (legs) your legs can rub together and with all the walking at WDW this can be uncomfortale. (this was more an issue when I was pregnant, thankfully not anymore for me.) For hairy legged men I can imagine it would be worse. At least consider baby powder.

I have a friend who's brother lives in Kenya he wears a skirt (really a wrap they were there.) often. He looks pretty good in it. :teeth: (funny enough he wears them with crocs! :rotfl2:

Oh yes, don't forget the legs rubbing!!! That's why my mom, who ALWAYS wears skirts, has bought pants/ shorts to go to Disney!!!!

My DH wore his kilt at Universal on our last trip, and nobody seemed to mind. In fact, a tourist from Scotland gave him a pin. He also wore it on our DCL cruise, because he also finds it very comfortable. I have a suspicion that men's legs don't rub together as much as women's.

The short answer is "very carefully" lol! Seriously though, it's not that tough. I just stick my knees together and kind of kneel forward a little, then use my arms on the sides of the car to push myself up - or DH gets out first and gives me a hoist by the hand. Most rides I have zero issue at all - Space really is the only one now that I think of it, and we don't even ride it every trip.

Aha

But I don't have a DH or DF to help me getting out... lol!

I would have the thigh rub thing going on and then the chafing would not be pretty. So no skirts for me!

If it's comfortable and covers all that it should cover, wear what you want.

I say wear it. That way we can keep the "Have you ever had a shock" thread going. :lmao:

Seriously, though, wear what you want to wear. Who cares what other people think, you're at Disney. :thumbsup2

Oh dear lord... Thighs rubbing and you call yourselves Disers!!!!! HELLO BODY GLIDE!! Ladies and men with potential thigh rub issues- this is a gift from above. I used it last year(and I always got the chub rub rash) and nothing! Perfect rash free thighs! You can get it at any hiking store- like an EMS store.
Totally off topic but anyone remember the Manziere episode? :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

I thought of that when I made my post, but couldn't remember the name. Still since I lost some weight it isn't an issue for me, so I wasn't sure of the name of the product. I do remember on trip though when it was. I was so surprized. I couldn't belive my thighs were sore from rubbing together! :rotfl:

you know really the couple i've seen never made me think they were a girls...they were masculine looking skirts( not an oxymoron :teeth: ) that probably a women wouldn't be caught dead in...they reminded me of the old ugly skirts you had to wear many centuries ago when i was in chorus in grade school or uniform skirts ( but not short like they are now) and the young men had on regular 20 yr old guy stuff with them so it didn't really look all that weird
