Skirt suit question

Very nice. I wish I wasn't so broke right now. I would buy it for myself.

Nice, the jacket is fitted. Be careful of the length of the skirt. At the wrong length, it can make you look dowdy.

What do you suggest?

I mean, if it's too long, take it to your dry cleaner, they usually do tailoring. It will probably cost $5-$10 to take up the hem, if you can't roll the waist up a little, underneath the jacket.

A woman needs to be thin to wear this well. I like the lines and pinstriping.

I have seen thousands of suits like this. You would not stand out:

I agree the skirt is rather full and long. On me at 5'2" it would look silly. If you are tall I think it would be ok. Otherwise it might make your look very stumpy. I usually buy mine right at knee length. I like this one better: http://www.overstock.com/Clothing-S...Skirt-Suit/3541897/product.html?sec_iid=33972 It also seems less bulky through the shoulders.

I'm 5'11 (and a 1/2:lmao: ) so I'm safe with longer skirts, but I do like them both!:goodvibes

Thanks! Even if it costs $10 to do the alterations, it's a great buy.

Thanks. I'm 5'5.5" with fairly long but full legs.
Usually the manequins are dressed to fit someone 5'7". So the skirt is already on the long side. Plus, it's an A-line, flouncy shirt. You won't get very much mileage wearing as a separate, like with just a turtleneck or blouse on top. It won't look professional enough without the jacket.

It depends on whether her current position is one where she wants to stand out. If she's just starting, she wants to fit in, right now. Show she's a professional team player. Management positions are more the stand out types.

The skirt on this one is better. It's more straight-lined. However, if you have a belly bump or pouch, it would only emphasis the problem from the side profile. But this style can be worn with separates better.

You are 100% correct. I have been in management too long... :goodvibes

Honestly, I don't like the look of the first one. I'm not sure if it's the jacket, the skirt, or both. But I feel like the jacket might button up just a bit too high, and the skirt seems too flouncy for a suit skirt. Maybe take the hem up a bit might help, but I think a skirt suit needs more structure. JMO, of course. Seems like I'm the only one that doesn't really like it.

I'm in grad school right now, so I'm not usually in need of more professional outfits at the moment. But I like to have a few for the occasions where I may want or need to look more professional.

Ah, then actually the skirt may be right for you once it's hemmed. Unless you're in the banking industry. It has a young enough flair to be stylish and age appropriate. Yet is tailored too. :)
