Update:
We thought that it was great! However, we still thought that the movie was better. They had to add a lot of music to get it to a decent length, and most of the new music, with the exception of "Change in Me" could have been better. The new music was not catchy and had more narrative than catchy refrains. The Belle actress was very good, but we got the afternoon understudy for Gaston. He was pretty good. I liked that they added lots of humor. It worked with every character, especially Lumiere and Madame de La Grande Bouche, but not the Beast. The "I want her to come to dinner!" with whining was corny, IMO, and did not fit with the rest of the play. I enjoyed the second half better than the first half, but one of my favorite bits was the bar scene with Gaston. The dancing there was cool. I expected better dancing during Be Our Guest--they almost looked like they were scared to fall of of the dishes stairway. Still, overall they did a very good job, and I bought a pin to commemorate the experience. I would definitely recommend it, but remind the person that it might not match up to the movie. Every second, you are subconciously comparing the play and film in your head. Still, thumbs up.
