Skipper Canteen (Jungle Cruise themed restaurant) updates and ADR watch

BOG was different. It was a big experiment, with the entree pre-ordering and pre-paying. I don't think anything about BOG should be viewed as an indicator of what Disney does typically, and so not something that should be looked at to tell us how Skipper Canteen will be.

aaaaand i called the dining number and the woman i spoke to said they still have no info, just keep checking the parks blog and online for more info.

For the most part, anyone who is following this thread is probably going to get an ADR, going to try to get an ADR because well, we're following this thread, and as soon as one person reports that they've made their ADR for the Canteen, we'll all be making our ADR's, probably even before Disney announces it.

Made a slight edit. After ADRs open up, there are going to be lots of posts here from bummed out guests who got shut out. ADRs are great...if you get one.

The Excitement is Killing me! I was up until 1:30am just looking at pictures of it. My trip isn't until June, so I'm sure ADR will be up by then, but, since I'm past my 180 day mark, I'm a little nervous about being able to snag one. I just keep looking every morning at 6:am.

Right, and while fans like us are a small percentage of visitors, there are probably enough of us (from DISboards and other sites) to fill the restaurant.

I am so over this. Don't care if it is open when we are there. This manufactured hype is getting very old.
The silliest part of it is that we did it to ourselves. Disney isn't pushing us to pay attention daily to whether or not this restaurant is open, and whether or not this restaurant is taking reservations. We're doing that. :)

True....but it's a little fun...eh?

Of course some people will be shut out. There will be tons of disappointed people who will post to say, oh I didn't or forgot to check this morning, today or this week, etc.....now I missed out.

But I think you're missing my point. I'm talking about people who follow this thread 24/7. I do think if you are seriously following this thread or continuously checking the dining website like many people here are doing, you will probably get an ADR, as I said. So, no need to edit for me. Thanks anyways.

The math simply doesn't support that conclusion. People waited with equal fervor for BoG and we know how that turned out. The edit was correct. Look at it in terms of sets and subsets. You can group all of the people who try to get an ADR into a large set. We will call that Set A. And then there will be a subset of people who actually succeed in getting one. That will be Subset B. Set A will always be bigger than Subset B. Using your earlier post, "anyone who is following this thread" comprises Set A. People who get an ADR will be Subset B. Since all will try, but not all will succeed, my edit is fair.

not necessarily true if you restrict set A to people who try to get an ADR on the first day.

This is me. I am right in my 180 days and still making daily ressies since we are offsite. But that ends this saturday and the day I want is on Friday. On a good note I figure when it does come up I can jump on it because my time is passed but on a bad note I am afraid if I don't hear it will be taken. So frustrating! I also want do Rivers of Light and possibly eat at Tiffens which is the new restaurant in AK but nothing about that either :/

I'm now following this thread too along with another one. I'm wondering if the menu will even work for our kids, but I have an open lunch date on our January trip that I'd love to possibly fill with the Skipper Canteen. Hopefully it will open soon.

The earliest rumored date for RoL is Earth Day (April). Tiffin's is "sometime in 2016" so I wouldn't get wrung out about it as it's basically a pre-announcement.

Sounds like you're defining Set A differently than PP: "if you are seriously following this thread or continuously checking the dining website like many people here are doing, you will probably get an ADR". Not 100% of, but probably MOST of these obsessed people will get ADRs.

Set A ~ Subset B IMHO ;)

After all these years of the type of watching that PP mentioned, I've yet to NOT get an ADR for the "new, hot thing" for an upcoming trip.

Great... now I've jinxed myself... ;)
