I know these bags have been discussed in the past, but the search function is not working.

I'm in the market for a new diaper bag. Does anyone own one of these bags? Which one?

I was looking at the Dash Deluxe, but I couldn't tell if the main compartment zippers closed or not. I don't want stuff falling out of the bag.

Any suggestions for Skip Hop or (other brand of diaper bag)? This will be for WDW as well as every day use, so I need a good one.

Thanks! :goodvibes

I don't carry diaper bags now...but when I did, I really like my Skip Hop Dash...then I discovered Lexie Barnes diaper bag, and that very quickly became my favorite. I had both the Lexie Barnes Superstar and darling. I just took a look at their website (www.lexiebarnes.com) and they don't have the fabric that I had anymore....I think mine was called the parfait).

I had a skip hop duo in the past and now we have a dash but not deluxe so not sure what the differences are. The dash I have doesn't have a zipper at the top of the main compartment. It is a messenger style with a big flap that uses velcro to shut. The bag is durable and has tons of organization which is a must to me - I'm all about pockets, pockets, and then more pockets. It has 2 side (outside) pockets which can hold drinks, 2 more big snap shut pockets on the front. Inside there is one slip pocket the full width of the bag and on the other side the slip pocket is seperated into 2 compartments to hold diapers and wipes. Then there is a big slip pocket along the back to hold the changing pad. I like that it clips to the stroller too.

But I like the way the Lexie Barnes bags clip to the stroller better. With the skip hops the main strap bag detatches when you use the stroller clips. At one trip to the zoo I thought I lost that strap and searched for nearly 15 minutes before I found it. With the Lexie Barnes bags the stroller clips have their own straps so you don't need to detatch the main strap and worry about loosing it. Lexie Barnes also has tons of pockets. I've had the duchess (backpack not sure if they still make that one) and currently use a Darling. It holds alot without being bulky and has great pockets. I especially like the 2 outside mesh drink pockets. My DD's use 18oz Klean Kanteens with a thirsty tote on the outside of them so their drinks are pretty big and it can be hard to find a bag that will hold them. The drink pockets on the darling are mesh with an expandable elastic top so they hold nearly anything. Today when shopping I even put my wet umbrella in one of those pockets. There is a hidden pocket at the top of the bag, 3 small pockets inside and 2 bigger ones diaper sized, a big slip pocket along the back for changing pad. And 2 small slip pockets along the outside front of the bag. I keep small flat things in them like my work ID, coupons etc.

The Deluxe Skip Hop bags have magnetic closures instead of velcro. Apparently, skip hop has new stroller clips on the deluxe bags that don't require the main strap to be removed (I hope) like the older versions. Haven't tried one yet but am looking forward to it. I never owned a dash because I don't like flaps on my bags. I did have a duo and an expo though and liked them both.
ITA that Lexie Barnes bags are great:thumbsup2 The Darling is a great size and can hold a ton, if needed. Also, the stroller clips are super easy to use - however, the newly restyled Darling bags no longer have the clips :sad2: You may be able to find one on eBay though - they pop up there from time to time. The Duchess also has the stroller clips but it's been discontinued apparently - again, perhaps ebay?
Good Luck:)

Never had one of those other bags every is raving about but I love my duo. I got it brought over to the UK from America as I couldn't find the colour I wanted here and it was half the price. Works really well for me.

I had the duo as well (they didn't have the deluxe ones two years ago) and while it was a good bag, I hated the whole detaching of the strap thing. THat being said, if the deluxe doesnt have that- terrific. Otherwise the Lexie Barnes ones looks terrific.

I have 2 Skip Hops. One is a Red Skip Hop Duo (not the Deluxe) that I rarely use. Main reason is that I was always afraid of getting it dirty! LOL But I think it seems stiff and not overly roomy. Plus I don't care for the messenger style strap.

We also have the Skip Hop Spark (sold at Target for only $30) in Green Camo. This is very similar to the Duo but I love it so much more and use it all the time!! It is more flexible feeling and roomier with better pockets and storage. Plus it has tote type handles in addition to the regular messenger strap. So I can keep the long strap off all the time in case I want to attach it to my stroller and still have the tote handles when I need to carry it!

We don't use any of the Skip Hop's at WDW though. Just not roomy enough plus I would rather use something that I didn't care if it it got wet or dirty and tossed around. When DD was 3 months, we used the hospital diaper bag freebie as well as a backpack with other non-baby stuff. On the trip when DD was 15 months old, we just put everything baby and non-baby in a backpack and no diaper bag. LOL

I love it and wish I had gotten a Red Spark when they were clearancing them out in Target. They do still sell the Black Sparks though (hoping they come out with some new colors) as well as Pronto's (about $15), and a new Messenger style Skip Hop (doesn't look like any other Skip Hop I have seen).

We also just got a Skip Hop Saddlebag in Ice Blue but haven't tried that one yet. It is put away for our next WDW trip but does look roomy and useful.

We used the spark by skip hop at WDW and I really didn't care for it. As it doesn't have a zipper closure, just velcro, it really didn't feel like it keep anything safe and secure. Plus, the spark is a cheap version of the Skip Hop...the quality isn't quite there....but for the price at target, it was great.

My favorite diaper bag is the sling tote by Fleurville. Not cheap by any means (but thank god for their sales and seconds sales). It holds tons, has a zipper closure, insulated bottle holder and "o" rings for stroller attachment use. It is GREAT!!! You can detach the shoulder strap so you can use it messenger style or as a tote. Won't hurt to at least check it out. Oh, the other bonus is the fabric is so easy to keep and stay clean. The material on the skip hop holds every bit of dirt, grease, etc IMHO.

Also, a great alternative is any bag that suits your needs at Timbuk2.com. Not actual diaper bags, but when you read the info on the bags, they can fit the bill with some minor diaper bag goodies.

Thanks for all of the replies. I will do more research on Skip Hop, as well as the other brands suggested. I'll let you know what I end up getting!:goodvibes

I love my Skip Hop Duo Deluxe :goodvibes (I've had many different colors, I tend to switch as I switch strollers, craigslist is good for this!) I love the magnets on the Deluxe. I had the original Duo and hated the velcro.

However, I live in NYC where the bag was invented and the majority of moms here never take the bag off their strollers. My Skip Hop stays on my Bugaboo and I never remove it. I've actually never even folded my stroller :lmao: It stays parked in my foyer when not in use.

I used the Skip Hop in WDW on our first trip with DS and it was okay. It didn't workout that well. It just didn't have enough space inside to carry jackets, change of clothes, etc....

I would use it to just stay on the stroller and keep diapers, wipes, snacks, etc.. then carry a small mommy bag (my prada crossbody bag) to carry my wallet, camera, cell phone, park passes, etc...

This trip since I don't need a diaper bag, I bought a LeSportSac bag with tons of pockets. It can squish into a stroller basket and it's very lightweight.

I just don't think the baby bag you use everyday will work in WDW. At least, it doesn't for me.
