Skiing Question

My daughter and I go to Monarch Mountain, they frequently have Buy 1 Get 1 with fill ups from Shell Gas, or flying into Colorado Springs. But, if you are military, their season pass is amazing! You can stay in Salida or Buena Vista OR if you want to splurge a little, combine it with a trip to Mount Princeton Hot Springs (or a different hot springs in the area).

What I love about Monarch is that all the trails lead to the lodge. I can feel good about my daughter going off on her own and not getting lost on the other side of the mountain. We rent from a place going up the mountain.

Another option which many of my friends recommend is Ski Cooper (don't confuse with Copper) in Leadville, CO.

Red River, New Mexico is a great budget ski town. If you stay in certain hotels in town, kids ski free if an adult buys a lift ticket (Kids under 12, 1 free kid lift ticket per 1 paying adult ticket). 2 adults and 2 kids skied this February for $300 total for 3 days. We stayed at 3 Bears Lodge in a 2 bedroom cabin, ski-in/ski-out for $159/night. It was a great mountain for beginners to learn to ski. I grew up skiing in Colorado and love it there but lift tickets are up to $120+ per day for an adult (and $50 per day at Red River off peak). We are on a budget this year so Red River won! The town is great too so we enjoyed it quite a bit! (Just Google "Kids Ski Free" and Red River will probably pop up).

Highly recommend Ski Cooper! You can stay in Buena Vista, Leadville both have Super 8 motels. Very reasonable! Rent skis off site and just keep them with you. We have never been disappointed!
