I'd recommend booking this privately, save a little money and have a more private tour. We did a very similar tour through Chilkoot Charters and added on the dogcart ride. Chilkoot has buses that hold 24 people, so a smaller size bus than Disney will have. (Smaller bus means less time spent loading/unloading the bus of people and more time spent at stops or even making more scenic stops.) Our tour guide, Mike, stopped at all the same places the Disney one does, but timed it so that we weren't there when the big buses were, same with what time we had lunch at Caribou Crossing Trading Post. We got out to take pics (and he took pics of us with our cameras) multiple places, including Bridal Veil Falls, Emerald Lake, Yukon Sign, Carcross Desert, etc. We stopped in the town of Carcross for about 15 minutes to visit the couple of stores there, did a little souvenir shopping. There is a big store at Caribou Crossing Trading Post--you choose how to spend your time there--you get lunch first, then if you've added on the dog cart ride, you go to that at a certain time, the rest is free time to either pet puppies, pet goats, visit the wildlife museum, or go shopping--we didn't have time to visit the museum, but we did do the rest of it! We did the bus up, train down. They also have a cheaper option of just taking the bus both ways. For us it was the perfect excursion--bus one way to have a chance to get out and take pics, train one way to experience that (none of us needed a roundtrip train journey), puppies!, dog cart ride. It was a highlight of our trip!
