Size of Parks?

Could someone give me an estimate of the size of each park compared to Disneyland? (Example - 2 Disneylands can fit in Epcot) I'm very familiar with Disneyland and I'm pretty sure this will give me a good idea of how big the parks are. Thanks!

HUGE!!!!!!!!!!! :lmao:
Lots and lots of walking. Luckily everything is so beautiful that it help make the walk a little more enjoyable.
I do not know how many DLs could fit into EPCOT but remember you have 4 parks to go to. All of which are pretty darn big. We found stopping and sitting on a bench and watching the goings on around us was really helpful. And lots and lots of water!
Have a great time! :)

I remember being told when I went through Traditions after being hired that you could take the entire Magic Kingdom (WDW) and fit it into the parking lot of Epcot and still have room to park 500 cars!

While Epcot used to be our largest park, that honor now belongs to the Animal Kingdom.

I believe MGM is the smallest of the parks.

I'll take a stab at this, as we just got back from Disneyland & California Adventure... after many many trips to WDW.

Epcot is pretty-darn-close to the size all of Disneyland, Downtown Disney (California) and California Adventure combined. Magic Kingdom is about 1 & 1/2 times the size of Disneyland. Animal Kingdom is techniclly the largest but I think that includes the Safari lands... the part you visit is about the same as Magic Kingdom. And MGM is a little bigger than California Adventure.

All of WDW is 47 square miles... HUGE by California standards. With all the resorts, the waterparks, DTD (easily twice the size of the California version) and the many beautiful lakes with boating & water sports, there is much more to see and do than just the larger parks.

Don't get me wrong, size isn't everything (we love Disneyland too) but you asked about size... the first time we went to Florida I was bowled over by the vast expanse of it all.

From Wikipedia, here are the sizes:

Magic Kingdom: 107 acres
Epcot: over 300 acres
Disney-MGM Studios: 135 acres
Animal Kingdom: over 500 acres

Disneyland Park: 85 acres
California Adventure: 55 acres (from DL official site, Wiki didn't list size)

WOW!

Well, I was close except for MGM... (I'm really surprised it's that much bigger than MK... it always seems smaller. Maybe it's just fewer attractions.)
And under estimating Epcot a bit (what's 100 acres give or take). Guess that explains why it takes AT LEAST two days to see Epcot! (Real more than that to see it all.)

Oh my, they are huge! Thanks for the replies!!! This will help a lot when I'm planning out a rough attack for each park (definitely going to limit/eliminate the amount of criss-crossing and such at Epcot and AK). Looking at those numbers, Epcot is 3.5 times bigger than Disneyland and it sounds like Disneyland would fit inside Future World. If this is the case then going between Soarin' and Test Track is a lot further than I thought. Thanks again!.

Just had a thought...Could these numbers include the parking lots? That would certainly make a big difference since DL/DAs parking lots are mostly parking structures and wouldn't take up nearly as much room.

I don't think so; I know that they list the Epcot parking lot (141 acres) separately.

As far as planning goes... I used to (when I lived in NY and visited) start the morning in EPCOT/AK, and then go back to hotel for afternoon break/lunch/swim and then go to a smaller park (MK or MGM) for the evening.

In other words, do the big park with the extra walking in the morning when I am fresh and the smaller park in the evening when I start to feel really tired.
The afternoon break is a good refresher too.

Hope you have a Great Trip!

IT IS! Most touring plans suggest you go to Soarin and run to get fastpasses from TT. Well..... it just isn't that easy. They are on total opposite corners of FW. If you have a FP runner, I guess it would be ok, but that is still a lot of hauling butt back and forth.

I've heard that something similar. That you can fit Disneyland in the MK's parking lot and still have room for 500 cars.

However, they say that the Disneyland parking structure is the 2nd largest in the world... second only to that of Tokyo's Disneyland, by 1 space.

All of WDW is 47 square miles
I've been told its now 42 square miles since they sold off the land to make Celebration.

Wow! Thanks for those links! I zoomed in on the Disneyland once so that it was the same scale as the others. After that, I cut a piece of paper the size of Disneyland and then placed that paper over the WDW parks. Worked like a charm. I now have a pretty good sense of the size of the parks. Um, they're big! :) Although, if you compare actual walking areas, there's not too much of a difference (well, except Epcot). Thanks again!

Funny thing is, as I was looking over DLR I kept thinking, "Geez, this place is TINY compared to the WDW parks!"
