I know I saw this in a thread somewhere but does anyone know the actual size in acres of the parks. I'm going next week with our high school band :rockband: and trying to explain to our first time students and parents just how big Disney is. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks :goodvibes

MK is about 107 acres, MGM is about 154, Epcot is about 300, and AK is about 500. WDW itself is nearly 30,000 acres. That is twice the size of the Island of Manhattan and about the same size as the City of San Francisco. WDW is bigger than 5 of the world's countries. Just the Epcot parking lot is 162 acres.

Magic Kingdom is 107 acres
Epcot is 321 acres
Disney MGM is 154 acres
Animal Kingdom is 580 acres

This is according to my passporter 2006.

I read in one of my guidebooks, the same thing that a previous poster said
"Disney is roughly the same size as San Francisco".

They have actually been selling off some of the property, currently the total is 24,000 acres

They have only sold off about 100 acres, and that land was not part of the original land purchase. If you include Celebration (thats an iffy subject) WDW is still nearly 30,000 acrea.

24,000 is a good estimate - the latest official figures I was able to find are from 1998, when it was about 25,000 acres (and there have been substantial sales/deannexations since then).
The remaining undeveloped area suitable for development lies somewhere between 2000 and 3000 acres. The most likely site for theme parks #5 and #6 (if they are ever built) appears to be the area adjacent to the Wide World of Sports or across the road from the Disney-MGM Studios. Hotel sites include the area between the TTC and Ft. Wilderness, the old Venitian site, and to the west of the Magic Kingdom. There is also room for another resort near the Animal Kingdom Lodge and between Bay Lake and Lake Mabel. They do no longer appear to have land set aside for theme park #7.

Celebration is not part of the RCID, and they have sold off way more than 100 acres. They donated 200 acres for the construction of the Western Beltway alone! 24,000 is a good estimate, and it is definitely not more than 24,700.
