Sizable Price Increase on Tables in Wonderland Membersip

I've had an AP for many, many years and have been a DVC member going on 20 Years now and was a DDE/TIW member for a long time so I am well aware of what the discounts are for each. Just because I have a much lower post count than yours doesn't mean lack of knowledge on my part.
I'm not sure why you feel the need to get up into Molly's grill when she was just trying to be helpful. I know for a fact that your post count is immaterial to her and she was not trying to be insulting by linking to the discount page at All Ears. You stated that the AP discounts were "token" while there are 35 restaurants that offer at least 10% off with no TIW card required. IMO, that is not "token" but a genuine discount offer. Now, it turns out that with your touring/eating style those discounts are not worthwhile to you so you consider them "token" but is she supposed to be a mind reader?

I've found that on a lot of these boards people tend to be of the mindset that if it doesn't work for them, then it is stupid and anyone who thinks it does work for them is also stupid. The fact of the matter is that with almost every change, offer, etc., it is going to be a positive for some and a negative for others. That doesn't mean that one is right and one is wrong, just different people and different ways of thinking and doing things.

The are only 13 in park eateries that offer an AP discount, 9 of those 13 are restricted to one specific meal period leaving only 4 that are more or less unrestricted, This is why I called them token discounts. That's 13 out of a total 155 places to purchase food within the parks that even give any AP discount which is only 8%. There are 31 places at the Resorts & Disney Springs offering AP discounts out of over 170 places which is still less than 20% but a little better and some of those are also restricted. There are well over 300 places to eat @ WDW and even TIW only works at less than 1/3 of them.

I do not respond to any post with a mindset of the other posters being "stupid" because something does or doesn't work for them as you put it. I agree we all have our own opinions as to what does or doesn't work for us.

TIW no longer is worth it to me. If they were to beef up TIW to include all CS they could justify the price tag increase for me. But that expense to only cover less than 1/3 of dining locations doesn't come anywhere near to the dining discounts included for all DL Passholders at almost all dining there which IMO somewhat justifies their higher AP prices. They are also way more generous with their DVC dining discounts.

LOL I don't think anyone is going to argue the price increase or the newer restrictions are positive. I think we can all agree that it is a negative thing but how negatively it impacts some more than others will be the difference.

For me, for a 6 night trip over Easter it isn't worth it to get a PAP and a TIW. I am bummed I am losing my excuse to sneak in an extra trip or two but I'm going to limit WDW for awhile until it becomes a better value again.

It's not worth it to me either. If they included CS discounts they might get my attention.

I was "out" when it hit $100....at $150 I am gasping for air. Ridiculous.

We are still on the fence as to whether we should do TiW for our upcoming trip. We will be there 8 nights, and we usually eat 2 meals a day at TS restaurants. However, now that may only be enough to break even...hard to know exactly how much we will spend at each restaurant. If we don't take another trip before our Premier APs expire next June (and it is very likely that we won't), I am not sure it's worth it to us. Kind of a bummer because TiW was one of the benefits I was looking forward to when we upgraded to Premier APs.

There is nothing ridiculous about it. Its a price change. For some people it will still save them money. For others it will not. If it will save you money, you should buy it. If it won't, you shouldn't. Its simple math, nothing ridiculous about it.

Yes, this would please me greatly. I would gladly pay if I got cs discount as well

There is no reason for them to do this. CS is already significantly cheaper and at any given time will have a lot more people buying from them than TS. There is simply no good reason for them to discount CS or QS food.

8 nights times two meals a day is at least 16 meals; maybe more depending on arrival and departure plans. That's an average of $50 per meal to break even at the new price. That's pretty easy to do at Disney. Most of my meals for two were much closer to $80, and we eat light.

Of course, that's your opinion. My opinion is that a 150% increase in 7 years and a 100% increase in just 3 years is absolutely ridiculous.

According to the US inflation calculator (http://www.usinflationcalculator.com/) an item purchased in 2008 for $75 would cost $83.02 in 2015 dollars. The TIW card now costs $150.

But how much have food prices increased at Dianey World over that same time period? Inflation is irrelevant. The discount may have increased even more that 150% considering how much prices have gone up.

Why does everyone think that every price change Disney makes should be tied directly to inflation. Business and economics adjust prices based on supply and demand, the government adjusts benefits based on inflation.

Oh don't get me wrong, I agree with you. Doesn't stop me wishing otherwise :)

The increase in food prices at WDW is also ridiculous IMO :faint:. That's why I have been eating offsite more and more.

Food prices have gone up across the board. Has anyone paid attention to their grocery bills the last couple of years? Sliced turkey is almost $8/lb here now for crying out loud.
