Six Flags Over Texas Question

My DS who is 5 is dying to go to Six Flags. The one close to Dallas is the one nearest to us since we are in Arkansas. The reason he want to go is to see Looney Tunes characters and Justice League characters. Does anyone know if they come out for scheduled appearances similar to the characters at Disney World? Is it a free for all or do they have handlers like at Disney World. Are there enough characters out for it to make it worth our while to go there. We went to Disney World in May where he pretty much stalked characters the whole time. Any advice?

I will be able to answer that question in 2 weeks when I make my 1st trip there in 10 years.
For my DD's 10th birthday she wants to bring a friend for the day to 6 Flags. I avoid WDW like the plague in the warmer months - this should be interesting!

Having worked there about a hundred years ago, give or take a few, I can tell you from my previous experience that character appearances will be pretty slim compared to WDW and very random. In the summer, due to the heat, you probably won't see more than a single character and that one will probably be in the shade in the kiddie area.

Thanks for bringing back the memories! It was an AWESOME place to work for a kid (from the special employee parties to the late night rides to the concerts where I got to "meet" the celebrities before the show)

We went every year for a while because the kids here get a free ticket if they read 6 hours during the Spring. We NEVER saw a character at any of those times. The free tickets are during summer, so you know it's the height of the season. We're going next week, probably, so I can look for them more, or ask for a schedule (we're only going if my nephew comes to stay, as ds chose not to do his reading this year.........that was just before his new love of reading).

Dh's company rented the park one Christmas season for their party and we saw no characters then either.........you would think they would have had them on hand, wouldn't you?

According to the current advertising they do have more character appearances than before. It was rare to see any before but they are supposed to have a character meal now. I listened to an interview with one of the six flags execs at the beginning of the year. He was saying they were going to be putting more emphasis on families and doing things like character interaction, meals with characters, more shows and more family friendly rides. What a concept! Such new ideas :rotfl2:

I did get a kick out of the interview, I'll still opt for WDW. They have added several kids rides this year but we haven't been so can't vouch for what is new. It is a not a good place to be in the summer. We've had season passes sometimes and only go when we do, just didn't renew this year.

My 14yo DD had a teacher tell her last year that she just couldn't understand why someone would go to WDW when they had SixFlags locally
My DD does like SixFlags because she's a thrill ride fan but even she prefers WDW.
