Sitting here waiting for news on the storm

They let us go home at noon and so far nothing much to speak of. Some wind and very little rain but it's not supposed to be in the area until around 4pm this afternoon.

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOORING

The winds are nice, but honestly - I've gone to work in much less than this :\

We got two squall lines come through so far.Got more rain yesterday afternoon.

Well the day is not over yet!!

:confused3 The only storm I seen grow over land.It hit with 60MPH winds now its 65MPH:confused3 Crazy!!!

:rotfl: We can't see much thru the boards on our windows. My kids want us to get the hurricane proof windows so they can actually watch it. I told them I can do that or pay for their college... :lmao: we can peak out the door every so often. ;)
I just had to compliment you on your response to kids, that was awesome :rotfl: :rotfl2:

How it going Akdar, havenn't seen you on the boards in awhile..

Metro looking at the radar looks like downtown is getting it pretty steady..

Should be heading my way shortly then.
You doing okay over there? It's been pouring all day here (Oviedo), pretty windy too but nothing too serious.

Tom on Local 6 says that thing might go out to sea, become a category 1, turn around, and come right back through Orlando! I hope not. :scared1:

I had very little rain and some wind last night but that's it. It seems to be hitting the east side more than the west.

The parks are scheduled to be open, so it's just going to be a rainy day today.

And probably slow.

Faye hit the mainland where Wilma did. My son and I were remembering how we ran from Charlie to Orlando and was right in the eye as it passed. It blew the doors out of the tracks in our hotel room and part of the roof was missing. We huddled under the mattress that I pulled off the bed. Ah, those good hurricane memories...
Faye soaked the ground and now one of the few trees that Wilma left is leaning precariously over our house.
Hey, A MickeyFan, you should be reading all the news you need to know out of the Naples Daily News!:lmao:

In downtown today...we've had steady light rain all day with some gusty winds at times. I don't know what it's like at home yet.

I did not post yesterday since my internet wasn't working the greatest. We ended up on the north western side of the storm since it came in lower than projected so we got very little rain. We had some winds but nothing really bad. There were homes without electric but ours was only out for a short period of time. There were some places in my county that did flood, but my City did luck out this time around. I am not upset that I prepared for the worst, like I said.. better safe than sorry. A tropical storm can do damage.. so why chance it...:confused3
I hope everyone else made out as good as I did...

You are right! They do a better job than the News Press lately for Lee County! My husband no longer works for the NDN.. the drive was toooo long for him with the price of gas... he now works for the City of Cape Coral...
I was thinking about you and how you made out in this storm....

They thought I was joking when I said it. The cost of those windows are about the price of a college semester! I had all the windows replaced in the house a few years ago, with regular windows... I will board up thank you...;) They want the "hurricane proof" they can get them when they build their own home... unless my house is destroyed by another storm (totally) and the insurance covers the cost of them...;)

Actually though, they make me a little nervous, what if there were a fire, you could not break the window to get out....:scared1:

I'm sitting here stewing about what to do. We are supposed to fly into Orlando tomorrow afternoon for five nights at Portofino Bay. I keep reading other threads on this storm and it's getting scary - there is talk of 15 inches of rain and possible flooding. I was going to rent a car for this trip (as I always do), but I'm worried about flooding. I'm worried about the drive to PBH from the airport.

I lost my husband recently and this trip was supposed to help us relax from the ordeal. It's one thing after another. :sad2:
