We (2 adults, 3 kids) traveling to DLR in 2 weeks staying at GCV, we have reservations at Napa Rose and because we have a 7, 4 and 2 year old can't use Pinnochios so we need an in-room sitter/nanny for the night. GC sent me a list of approved agencies but I was looking for specific suggestions on an agency or sitter. Any parents out there have specific advise??? Thank you!

I just called the hotel to ask the same question. My kids are 5 and 4 and the cast member said I could get a babysitter when I get there? He said they had sitters onsite I could use but was hoping someone on this site could verify. We have reservations at Napa Rose as well. Thanks for anyone's input.

Dang maybe that's what I should do for a living!! I love kiddos/babysitting and love Disney lol. I could be a Disneyland babysitter hehe. I didn't know that was a thing.

I called and spoke with the CM last week, and was told I must sign a waiver of release and I would receive a list of approved sitter agencies. I did this via fax and received the list of approved agencies but even that seemed so generic. seemed like they were so worried about liability but they were unwilling to give any specific information.

As a parent, I would like to check and verify a few things before hiring a sitter for my kids.
These are things to do prior to the trip, not while on the trip.
You might want to make a second call and see if the story is different.

Enjoy Napa Rose

I agree Geemo, but I haven't been able to get any specific info. I wish the list had 10-20 names instead of agencies, people they knew did a good job. Just another reason GC does not live up to its high end reputation - Ive never stayed at a 4/5 star hotel that doesn't have in room sitters 'on staff' especially since they have childcare providers in Pinocchios workshop. Ive seen moms post on here about in room sitters though, hoping they see this and reply:)

OP, I know you prefer individual names over agencies, so my experience might not be helpful. On two different trips, I used Destination Sitters. Maybe out of luck or maybe because it is a small office operation, I got the owner both times I called. I was given the name of a specific sitter (whom the agency had used for years) and was given her background and experience. She was awesome, so I specifically requested her the 2nd time and will do so again this November. The billing was straightforward and exactly as described on their website and repeated on the phone.

The first time, I made a suggestion about the $10 parking fee to the sitter, and the owner mistakenly thought I was complaining. I received a call within a couple hours to address my concern (which wasn't actually a concern at all). I share that because the agency was trying to satisfy its customer, even one who isn't local and wouldn't use their services regularly.

Good Luck! When you get a good sitter you can trust, you'll enjoy your dinner that much more!

No this is great, your the second person to say Destination Sitters so I'm going to call them first, see how it feels. Any chance you remember your girls name?

I sent it to you using the conversation feature. I haven't used that before, so I hope I did it right.

May I be so greedy to have her name sent to me? Thank you for the recommendation. I agree with you geemo which is why I was confused. I thought it was strange that I would show up and not vet out a sitter.

Thank you all for your help! We will be with our kids for 8 days visiting southern Cali and thought a few hours away for dinner with my husband would be nice. My kids might want a break from us too :).

Glad to see this post. I have been trying to get recommendations also. I will check out this website and give them a call.

You can also try care.Com for finding g a sitter. They have background checks, you can check references, and speak to your babysitter beforehand.

Thank you so much and what a great report! I couldn't believe that they wanted to fax either. I haven't faxed in years.

You have a beautiful family and appreciate the help!

Glad I could help! It was kind of hard finding reliable threads on the sitters here or on the other Disney boards, so I just did it the old fashioned way. We had a blast at Napa, and I know you will too!

We had a very god experience with Sitters Unlimited about a month ago. The agency was super professional, and the sitter they sent was wonderful, highly experienced, and professional (her name was Hilda). Good luck!

We used Care.com before and looooved our sitter, but she left (I think to nanny full-time for a family). She met us in the room and was familiar with GCH, she told us ahead of time her plan so we could agree to it. (We were going to be gone for 4hrs which was too long for them to stay in the room). She took the kids to the outdoor movie downstairs and I believe she was allowed to bring them into Pinocchio's Workshop to do a craft. Then they went back to the room and played and watched a movie on the iPad I think.

The kids were 3, 3, 5 at the time.

I was pleased with Care.com and am planning on using them in July again.

You may want to call and verify that a registered babysitter can take the kids into PW.

We stayed at GCa last October and I can share our experience. When you check in, the concierge will have you sign a waiver and then provide a list of local agencies. We were able to get a sitter for the next evening with no trouble and she was fantastic. I was having a mild panic attack before we arrived because i wanted to make sure we could get a sitter, but the list is about 7 agencies long and you're likely to find one with availability. It was great and I can't wait to use it again!
