Sit & Stand - Bad Idea?

We're going in Sept. 2010 and by that time, my daughter will be just turning 2 years old (a week before we leave) and my son will be just over 4.

We already have a double stroller. It's a baby trend and has the sit & stand feature. Do you think this is a good idea or would purchasing a double jogging stroller type be better?

I can't see us using it much more than for Disney but maybe if we got one, we would... I don't know.

Get a double stroller! 4 is awfully young to stand all day.
My 6 year old still appreciates the stroller while at WDW, and would ordinarily NEVER sit in one! She's actually napped in it while waiting for fireworks shows.
If you have a friend with a good double stroller, ask to borrow theirs. We have done this a few times, with the idea that if something happened to it, we'd replace it for them. But have never had any issues.
You can rent one there in the parks, but then you won't have it around your resort or back to the busses.
I have rented from Orlando Stroller Rentals before.. and LOVED it! We got a brand new double stroller, I don't remember the brand. It was pretty cheap considering the service and they delivered to the resort and picked it up at the end. It was the best way for us to do it and we'll do it this way again.

the sit & stand is a double stroller. It can convert the backseat into a place to sit or stand or can have the seat in it (to match the front one). I've just seen a lot of the jogging stroller types (side by sides) and was wondering if that's the better route to go.

I say go with a double stroller. I am renting one from Orlando Stroller Rentals for a 2 and 6 year old. The also have the one you were talking about and i was considering that but i do not think my 6 year old would want to stand all day. So we are going with the double. I would look in to the rental place instead of buying one.

As long as it has 2 hoods and reclining seats, I think it's the XL or something that offers that you will be fine. It's beastly tho folded, most side by sides fold flatter and lighter.

You have a fair amount of time before you leave. It may be worth your while to check consignment stores and garage sales to get a SBS that you only use for WDW that way you'll get a chance to try your kids in it and see how it is to push and lift, etc. vs buying online and not being happy.

I used a sit and stand (joovy) for my 5 and almost 3 yr old last year. Granted neither of my children sleep-ever, it worked out for us. It was pretty huge folded and I didn't like lugging it on the buses. I imagine it would be that way with any drouble stroller. My oldest mostly rode on the back (sitting), but stood sometimes. My youngest slept in it twice. The oldest napped once for 30 minutes. I wish the sunshade was a bit bigger, but it worked for us.

I used my sit-n-stand for our last two WDW trips and loved it! I have three young kids and the baby sat in the front with the other taking turns on the back when they were tired...and sometimes sitting together on the back (squishy, but doable!). I wouldn't waste my $$ on another stroller and the sit-n-stand will do great in disney. Plus, it's pretty easy to take on the buses.

We got a Sit N Stand for our trip for our 3 and 5 yo. 5 yo could have walked all day, but not the 3 yo and just an umbrella would have caused severe attitude/fighting, plus we wanted something with a little storage. It actually worked out great. We didn't use the child snack tray or the front foot rest (there is a metal bar they put their feet on). It was easy to fold up and wasn't as bulky as I thought it would folded up. Fairly light to push until the 5 yo got in (LOL). The only park we found it a pain was AK cause they don't have even ground and a lot of inclines/declines on the paths.

You could also look into renting one form an outside source, but the Sit N Stands (especially on sale) may be cheaper to buy than renting if you are there for several days and you would have it in the airport too (if you are flying). Have a great trip!

We've used our Sit and Stand on 5 Disney trips. The first when the girls were 3 and 9mos and the last when they were 5 and almost 3. I've loved it on every single trip! My older child really liked being able to climb in and out by herself and having a choice of whether to sit or stand helped with her independent streak. We just sold it on Craigslist because my DD5 walked almost exclusively on our last trip. My advice would be to keep what you have - it will work fine.

I would highly recommend renting a double stroller from Orlando Stroller Rentals. My boys are 5 and 2. Both of them used the stroller often to beat the heat and rest while we walked miles each day. Shannon delivers the stroller right to your hotel and they are easy to use. If you have any questions just let me know.
