Sister Wives

So was I dreaming or was Janelle kind of MIA the whole 2nd half of the show this week... :confused3 (edited to add) I didn't even notice she was missing until the 2nd half. I guess it took me that long to realize she wasn't there?

Meri is all weepy about not having the kids to look after, well heck she's rattling around in a 5 bedroom house "with wetbar" and nobody living in it but her.

I don't understand why Christine needs help with her kids? Does she not know how to be a mom? Heck, doesn't she only have like 3 left, now that two flew the coop? She doesn't actually work outside the home, does she? Or did she get her real estate license and is actually doing something with it? I think it's nice that her mom is moving in, but if she can't handle her kids without teenagers/mom helping her, there is something wrong with her. I think she feels very displaced as a caregiver to the other sister wives' kids, but on the other hand she can't really deal on her own so I am totally confused :confused3. She doesn't seem to be growing as a person as her kids grow up.

I am going to guess Janelle didn't go along to get the mom because she actually has a job, maybe?

Robin is not aging well. She has a constant worried look on her face now.

All of the women look awful (except Robins new hair color). Apparently they are not going to the gym or taking care of themselves at all. I love how it was mentioned that Cody just inserts himself into their households when he has time and they all have to drop everything and cater to him. YUCK :crazy2:.

I want to jump through the tv every time Robin says "you guyses" or "your guyses"

OMG, I can't stand it when she says "guyses:. The last time I watched she said it and I actually rewound the DVR back to where she said it, I actually couldn't believe that was what she said. It's like scratching fingernails on a chalkboard when I hear that :crazy2:

I believe that was the same episode where they were all sitting on the couch and Christine said she was hurt that Robyn hadn't asked her to watch her kids. Then Meri and Robyn are wiping the tears away Grrrr:sad1:.
Christine and Janelle were just sitting there, more like normal people.

Hey, if I wasn't asked to watch someone elses kids I certainly wouldn't cry about it. :lmao:

Oh, and one more thing, I believe I have also heard Robyn say "kidses". :rolleyes2

Just sayin',

Karen :)

I threw in the towel on this show last year. I give you guys credit for still watching...LOL I only read the updates here.

I was sick of the constant teasers making the audience think there was drama and other wives coming into the home etc.

It's boring and I can't stand the whining.

The bolded line above made me laugh.

That said, I kind of get where Christine was coming from (though I don't get the intensity of her emotion). Watching the kids was always her role in the family, and I can see being sad/nostalgic that the family is less close and intertwined than it used to be.

The pronunciation she uses is pretty typical for someone from Utah. They drop the t from some words. Details here:

I was just going to post that it was part of the Utah accent. The article makes it seem like it is just younger people but I lived in Utah in the 70s and 80s and they were dropping the T's then also. Not me, because I have a Texas accent that I have never lost.

Janelle said at the being of the show that she couldn't take the weekend off because of work . But that she was taking care of a few of the young girls

So on their Facebook page. People have posted a link from the Clark county courthouse that Kody divorced Meri and legally married Robyn....I wonder if Meri is leaving the family and how the other wives are feeling...

It probably has something to do with financials/tax returns/welfare etc..... Meri only has one kid and she is over 18 whereas Robyn has the youngest kid so they can get more money from the government that way.

This is just my theory, I could be 100% incorrect.

Wow, could this have anything to do with Robyn's kids from her previous marriage? Maybe he is formally adopting them?

to adopt them their birth dad would have to give up his rights (or a court takes them away) and it seems like the dad is still in the picture (it seems like at least Dayton still spends time with him-isn't that where the eye injury accident occurred?).

I'm wondering if their marrying has to do with giving kody better legal standing with the robyn's kids should something ever happen to her/she needed someone to act as a parent on her behalf. prior to marrying her he was just her "baby daddy", but now he's their legal stepparent who can deal with medical, school....then there's also the issue of Dayton who is (?)15(?). it's not unusual at about that age the parents of kids on the autism spectrum start seriously considering weather there will be the need to pursue legal guardianship upon the kid reaching the age of majority. I don't know about how it works in Nevada, but we are in the process of doing this now with our son and some state are REALY picky on the relatedness of co-guardians or standby guardians (and it's realy necessary to have one or the other or better yet-both). it might be a real stretch to get a court to appoint your 'baby daddy' whose married to someone else and co-habitates with you and 3 other women. me thinks it would be much easier to be able to say "my husband, my son's stepparent" on a petition.

of course then there's the cynical side of me that thinks "meri wants to go back to college, if meri divorces kody then his income/assets don't count towards her for financial aid so if he "takes" all their assets in the divorce then meri likely qualifies for every form of need based aid that's available";)

Has any of this been discussed on the show? I realize some things are more private than others, but if you're putting your "lives" out there, ostensibly for the purpose of educating about and normalizing your lifestyle, switching around wives for whatever the advantage may be, if it's a common practise in polygamy, should have made it past the cutting room floor. And wouldn't this be much more "real and relevant" as a story-line than the dumb stuff they do choose to show? There's really nothing left for us to see of the Browns anymore unless they add some "reality" back into their reality show.

I think it's all too recent. Since it's "out there" I would have to think it would show up at some point.

And oh, don't I wish I could read Meri's mind........

I can't imagine that Meri would be happy with this no matter what the actual reasoning is. She already seems like she has one foot out the door, this would make it that much easier for her to "cut and run" so to speak.
