Sister Wives, anyone???

I found it interesting that they (TLC) chose not to show Kody's big blowup when the tires blew. Can't remember which wife said it, but she talked about how Kody was soooo angry when the 2nd tire blew. Then he told her that he was not angry with her, he was angry with the situation.

I'm curious to know what he said (how he acted towards her) when he was angry. It obviously upset her enought to bring it up during their couch interview.

The added drama about the police possibly coming to get them was ridiculous. If the police were "coming to get them" then it would NOT have been done and it would be done with lights and sirens. Seemed like none of the adults in that house were thinking rationally.

Telling the kids that they are moving in three days broke my heart. Kody has put that family through enough. First having the show and being "out" there with an alternative lifestyle then all the police drama which was scaring the carp out of the kids about their family being torn apart. Then moving in the night and quickly like they are skipping out on the rent.

So the next "big secret" will be telling the kids about the new baby.

Somebody I know was in Vegas and ran into Kody and one of the wives at Ceasers (I think) and she had her picture taken with them. She said he hair was really greasy....lol

I wonder if Kody wanted to uproot the family to try and make it in the entertainment business or something. I feel like his ego is so big that he thinks that he should be a big star.

The whole show was disturbing … that one part when Kody was so frustrated with the move, got mad at Janelle and was whining to Christine about "her sister wife" when Christine snapped back quickly, "she is your wife" … Kody replies, "not today" …. oh.dear.Lord. :upsidedow

Then did anyone notice how Kody was running around packing HIMSELF up from each wife's bedroom. He shows up at Robyn's, while Robyn is busy packing her kiddos and Kody is talking to the camera stating how he has come here to pack HIMSELF up … no mention to Robyn about helping her with her 3.

ONE MONTH RENTAL and on the road AGAIN….????

What an idiot. :sad2:

I just catch bits & pieces of this show. Saw the most recent one where they leave Utah "for good". Is polygamy not against the law in Nevada? And the teenagers - don't they even consider how their poor choices affect them?

I usually try to understand things different from the way I am used to - but this guy is no prize! Why are they with him? What is so appealing to this type of relationship? I just don't see it.

I think I read that Utah has a common law marriage law while Nevada does not. In Utah, he is a polygamist because he legally married Meri and now is "common law" wed to 3 other women (maybe only 2, depending on how long the involvement is. Robyn may not count yet) while in Nevada he is legally married to Meri and has 3 mistresses, so not technically a polygamist by state law.

I was very disturbed that Meri's daughter is so involved in their church. I'm afraid she will become a sister wife in just a few years. And it's funny b/c out of all the wives Meri has been the one to say that she sometimes has regrets about the marriage.
Also, really sad for the kids who weren't allowed to say goodbye to their friends or teachers. That is just wrong.

lol, that was too funny!

I think she might go either way at this point. She was so angry and sad about being pulled away that I could see years of resentment towards her father (and perhaps mother) ahead because of this uprooting. This might have pushed her away from the lifestyle, might have made her realize she wanted to be in charge of her own life. Then I saw submissiveness when she packed and said that she was moving, that (basically) her father was in charge and she has to do what he says.

I agree with kiki mouse and i have said it before if the cops truly where after them they would do it. The authorities don't play drive by games Kody was acting that way to instill fear in the wives to get them to move. He is a conning kniving little thing let me tell you and all of thoes boys are going to be the same way.

Hi All!. Never posted on here, but have watched every episode.

I actually got the impression that Meri's daughter belonged to a different church/religion than Kody and the sister wives. The way that Meri and the kids spoke about her school/church seemed like it was not the same as theirs.

I thought Kody was trying to pull her away from the church. I can't see him not letting her finish out the school year if she has family in the area (which they've said) unless it was to create some distance between her and the church

They don't seem to talk too much about their church or religion- I would have expected more. But Meri's daughter(Mariah ?) is the only one who remained in the private church run school. The other children were switched to public school this year. I felt for the girl when all she was asking is to finish the school year. Meri's mom was there to help packing- you think they would let the girl staywith a grandparent for the rest of the year.

That is an interesting post above. I was not thinking she could be at another church/school. But I thought in an earlier episode they said she went to public school last year, hated it and was going back to her old school. The other kids were all leaving the polig school to go to public this year. Also, did Meri say she was very involved in the church or her church? I'll have to go back and see.

Has anyone noticed how many times they say the word "family" on the show? Sometimes my dd and I count it. Also, the wives pronounce the word family very differently than we do in PA, but Cody says it the same way we do. Is this a west coast way of pronouncing it or just them?

I agree that "the move", the telling of the children, the tearful search for a house in eight days, the threat of criminal prosection is all for the show.

Kody makes me sick because this is all done for the show. I wonder how things would be if there wasn't a show. Would he still create tearful drama by gathering the children around and telling them big news? I feel for these kids.

I have to agree with you c ann , i think he gets a thrill from instiiling paranioa in the wives , i mean they keep saying that they see the cops driving by and they don't know what they are gonna do well... last i knew cops don't stalk you they go after you, and if they want you they will get you.

This is all so true.. To purposely instill this type of fear and terror in his wives and children is so far beyond cruel, I don't even know what to call it..:headache:

This is also why I kept asking that as the "head of the household", why wasn't he calling an attorney to find out exactly what the ramifications would be in terms of them staying in Utah instead of fostering all of this unnecessary fear and drama and acting as though they had to sneak out of town in the middle of the night because the police were hot on their trail? Oh - I know - the ratings..

And the "anger" I previously mentioned - that I saw lurking behind his eyes? Well - I guess we got a small glimpse of that Sunday night, didn't we?

I don't like saying this, but I think Kody is a very unstable, irrational, sadistic, and possibly dangerous individual.. The kind of mind games he has played out with his wives and children is eerily similar to the "Jim Jones syndrome"..

So now they're out of Utah - "safe" in Nevada - where Kody claims they will be able to live their lives without being persecuted (or prosecuted) for their religious beliefs and chosen family lifestyle.. I'm not buying that.. It's not "ratings worthy" - so what will he find in Nevada to once again terrorize his family with?

That show on Sunday night literally made me sick to my stomach.. Of course it's not my place to judge, but I don't think the God that I believe in would approve of what he has just put that entire family through.. When "mind control" comes into play, I think it's time to start praying for those women and children - regardless of whether the adult women went into this arrangement of their free will or not..:(

You know, I was just thinking that maybe the police do drive by their house once in a while, but not for negative reasons. If there have been a lot of papparazi (sp?) around the house, maybe the police are making sure they(photographers) are not harassing the children, getting on their property or the neighbors, fighting.

Great post, C.Ann, as far as calling an attorney, I bet he has done just that. An attorney that does not want any publicity by way of Kody visiting while "on camera" who has probably advised him that at this point maybe he has indeed been flying "under the radar" with his lifestyle in Utah and would be best to move on where LE will not approach him. JMHO.

As far as the overall epi, ITA w/you. I was disturbed to say the least on how these children were all treated, totally ripped out of their home, their schools, from their friends and I think it was Hunter (that is the football star at his school, one of Janelle's kiddos), that sat to Kody right (facing us) that was just so devastated. Just ridiculous.

Kody the big media hound, puts himself out there to the tune of $10,000 per adult = $50,000 per epi and loving all the attention from the pap's everywhere they go and now its all coming back to bite him in his butt AT THE EXPENSE OF THE KIDDOS HAPPINESS. :sad2:

Only to end up in a rental for ONE MONTH.
:sad2:

I'm thinking the police would drive by any house where a family is being recorded for a long period of time.
Between the crew, media the neighbors may not be happy campers.

:confused3 I really do not see most of what have been said in the last posts. That he installed fear is not just him put your selves in their shoes where they have seen their families and their friends families torn apart, it is reality it does happen they are going based on their experiences. We have move many times and frustration is normal I can't even imagine moving with that many kids I would be a little frustrated too. Disturbing that the kids might follow the lifestyle, really? So it is OK when everyone else pushes their believes on their kids because it is "socially" acceptable religion but when a 17 year old chooses to be involve in their church the it's wrong? They have mention many times to their kids that they can choose how they want to live their lifestyle I never seen them push their believes on their children as people in the "socially" acceptable religion do. I do not see anything wrong if that is what they choose to do as adults. They are not harming anyone and if they are happy then why is it wrong? Meri's daughter had said she wanted to join the air force and Kody was encouraging her and told her public school might be better, because her school was not certify I think in the same episode he mentions is the school from their church that all the kids use to attend. And if she decided to be a sister wife then what? Why is it so wrong? I can think a million things that she can be that are worst that becoming a sister wife. We moved many times because of my mom job and as a teenager there was times I wanted to stay, but my mom will never let us stay without her and now looking back she was right sometimes parents do know what is best for their kids. As time went by I just got over it. I didn't created a long time resentment to my mom and from what I saw at the end of the show she was fine she understood she had to go with her family. I saw Janelle(sp) have more fear than Kory about the whole police situation. Why are we acting like we do not know what would have happen if they stayed in Utha? It is obvious they would go after them with charges because they are on TV and they are not going to look like they are not doing their jobs. "Bigamy is a third-degree felony in Utha." To go as far as saying that he is mentally ill, seriously? I saw a concern father, you do not know what happen when cameras were not here, it is reality that they could go after them. While their life style is not for me I do not think they are doing anything wrong. They are all adults that choose the way they wanted to life. I see it way worst when the men just goes sleeping around has kids with a bunch of women, does not care of his kids, or all the ones that go cheating and have a mistress, but that is not illegal so it is more socially acceptable.

What you don't understand, marie, is that they have had NO issues with LE until they decided to do the show. They have lived in Utah all their married lives. The kiddos were all born and raised there. They had no issues with anyone. They have allot of friends there both the sister wives, Kody as well as all the kiddos. Then Sister Wives hits 'reality tv' and they become 'celebrities' so to speak and it starts raising the eyebrows of LE and such. The first incident we saw was Meri being let go from a job she loved. She was very emotional about that, as I do not blame her. AND that was not about their lifestyle, that was because they chose to do the show.

I understand that you moved many times as a kiddo with your Mom for HER JOB. It was not for YOUR LIFESTYLE. That is what these kiddos have trouble understanding. They 'probably' are unaware that this lifestyle their parents have chosen is not legal.

My issues with all of this is the way it was handled. POORLY. Period. To tell these kiddos THREE days before they leave basically IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT and head to Vegas, was scary for them. How many actually got to say all their goodbyes to everyone. And Mariah, I felt badly for her.

Yes, but again it is their choice I understand all that. Why should they have to hide how they live, is not like they are dealing drugs or hurting anyone in the process. I have learn a lot about their lifestyle because of the show and that was their goal. They were tired of living in fear and having to hide their lifestyle. All the changes come when someone decides to stan up and do something. Yes they could have just keep living their lives and not do anything about it, choosing on coming out it was a harder choice IMO. I really do believe they want things to change for future generations that might want to choose that lifestyle. Ok DH is in the military and choose the military lifestyle like other millions of families, because of their parents lifestyle military children have to move very often and miss out on time with the parents. Does it mean is their are all wrong for choosing that lifestyle and making their kids move because of their choices? Before you argue that military is a job, is not just a job ask any military spouse, is a lifestyle. I have seen them all be very honest with the children and even the older children that have talked about it and understand that their lifestyle is illegal. I do not think the smaller children have the psychological capability to understand what it really entails.
I really think that everyone is making way to big of a deal of them moving in three days and what the children are going thru (I do not think they are dumb to discuss legal issues in the show that could affect them later, maybe it was suggested by a lawyer, we do not know that) . I think a kid having their parent deployed has to deal with more emotional baggage than just moving with a three day notice, but no one dares to talk about those children. Most parents decisions affect their children in a way or another. When parents get divorce it is also a lifestyle choice, yet it has become socially acceptable, so therefore no one every says anything about it anymore.
I can see when people do not agree with their lifestyle, but go as far as calling them mentally ill is way out there.

They have lived in Utah all their married lives. The kiddos were all born and raised there. .

I believe they use to live in Wyoming and moved to Utah about 7-10 years ago. The teens have not always lived in Utah.

Why should they have to hide where they live …. because the way they are living is ILLEGAL in Utah. Thats like saying why should someone have to hide the fact they are dealing drugs on the street …. because it is ILLEGAL. Period.
Its illegal in Utah. So because they have chosen this lifestyle in an illegal state they will have to now move on to a state that will "look the other way".

I would never compare this with the Military. My bro is a COL USARMY right now on his 4th tour in Afghanistan …. comparing the military lifestyle to polygamy is absolutely ridiculous. He and his family have lived all over the USA and Europe …. their kiddos were never told that the Police would or might come after them if they did not move. They never moved in 3 days. Ever. AND they were never told by their Dad that they COULD NOT TELL ANYONE they were moving. That right there was most abusive … to not be able to tell one friend, one teacher, one neighbor …. just leave in the middle of the night. Disturbing. :sad2:

And who are you referring to when you say "calling them mentally ill" …. I call them 'media hounds' as that is exactly what they have become doing this show …. esp Kody.

I believe they use to live in Wyoming and moved to Utah about 7-10 years ago. The teens have not always lived in Utah.

You are exactly right, I stand corrected on that …. Wyoming and then onto Utah.
