Sister Wives, anyone???

I watched it last night and enjoyed it. I have to say and I know I'm a minority here, but I like them. Meri says she's not going anywhere, she's committed to her marriage.
It's unfortunate that people here have to rip them apart just for sake of ripping them apart. They live a different lifestyle and they're not harming anyone doing it. They're taking care of themselves. It's called tolerance.

I forgot to watch the special last night. I should have DVR'd it. Anybody watch?

I think that rooms were not added on to the house b/c Kody and Robin want privacy from the other wives. He probably made up some other reason for it to the others.

I watched the special last night ... it was boring to me ... Natalie Morales asked some good questions, however IMO, the family always seemed to skirt around whatever she was asking and never gave a complete answers ... for example, she asked them how they could afford all their luxury cars, and they only answered that the one sportscar was 10 years old ... she asked them if they all had health insurance coverage and from where, and Kody started to answer that at first he didn't want to put all his kids on his health insurance plan offered by his employer, and then as a result, one of Janelle's daughters had an emergency appendectomy (it sounded like years ago) and they are still paying off that bill, and then that was it regarding that topic ... Natalie asked them if they were worried about getting arrested for polygamy, and they responded that that question was for their attorney ... and any questions regarding any "intimacy" issues, were quickly diverted/stopped at the beginning of the interview ...

Natalie also showed some clips from the show and then they talked a little about each clip ... but that was about it ... TLC is having another Sister Wives special at the end of this month ... I think it will be about Kody & Robyn's honeymoon ...

I DVR'd the special last night but caught a few minutes of it. I also agree that it's unfortunate that people have to rip them apart just for the sake of ripping them apart. The little bit I saw was fairly interesting to me and it was refreshing seeing them with no drama. Of course, that's probably why others say the interviews were boring.

I guess I'd have to tell those who don't like the show and thought the interviews were boring to change the channel. Everyone has a choice. That's why we live in America!

The one question that I have that I wished they answered better last night was regarding their health insurance ... I can understand how Kody's insurance could probably cover Meri & his children with Meri & even Christine ... and if Janelle has insurance through her job, it would cover herself and her children ... but how are Christine or Robyn covered since neither of them work and neither of them are considered a "spouse" ... and then how were Christine's hospital bills covered when she gave birth to Truely? ... did she receive some sort of public assistance? ... and how are Robyn's children covered? ... maybe by their biological father? ...

Don't get me wrong ... I'm not criticizing the family ... I may not understand the lifestyle they have chosen, but to each his own ... but if they are going to share their lifestyle with the world, then I wish they would be completely forthright with things so we can get an accurate understanding ... KWIM?

That's not the case for me at all ... I actually don't like the drama at all ... actually when you get a chance to watch the entire show from last night, you will hear Kody say that he actually had to tone down his "drama" during taping this season per TLC's request because he is usually even more "dramatic" ...

I just found the interview disappointing for me because I thought that maybe some of the questions that I had for the family would have been answered in last night's show ... but I guess that's why I'll probably have to tune into Season 2 ... maybe they will be answered then ...

I don't think this thread has been ripping them apart AT ALL. I find the discussion to be quite civil and open minded. It seems this isn't something any of us are interested in, yet we have all seemed to be open to learning about the faith and their system of beliefs.

I made fun of Kody's hair and fake tan....but trust me, I would have done that even if he were single.

Maybe they are paying cash for Christine's medical bills. How much would a birth be now, $5000?

OK, so I've been lurking, but I finally got a chance to catch up on the marathon I had DVR'ed.
I haven't had a chance to read through the entire thread here, so this may have been commented on before and I missed it.
Far be it from me to judge these folks and the way they live. I actually thought it was extremely interesting seeing how their family dynamic works.

However, the one glaring thing that screamed out at me (for whatever reason) was that one of the wives (not sure which one) was driving a car with duct tape holding up the driver side window, while Kody was tooling around in a brand new Lexus?!?!?! :confused3 What's that all about???
Seemed really odd to me...

He said in the special last night that the sports car was 5 or 7 years old when they bought it and they have had it for a few years.

It's already been mentioned about the Janelle's duct taped window. But really we don't know if it had just broken and was only taped for couple days which happened to be the days they were taping or not. Hard to really make a judgement on that really.

However it would be interested to know how financial decisions are made in t he family.

However it would be

I like them as well. They all seem like very mature, loving adults. It's not a common dynamic, but it really works for them.

I agree that they didn't fully answer that one. What I got out of it was that some are insired and other's aren't. I'm sure they pay cash for a lot of their medical expenses.

They answered that question very clearly in the first or second show of the series, as well as repeating it in the special. Beyond their answer, what more did you want? Details of their sex life?

.

I couldn't do it. Just the thought of my dh with someone else makes cringe, no way would I share him and be happy about it
I understand that you wouldn't share your husband and you are entitled to your opinion. But I totally understand the lives these women chose. Let me put another way...if you were married to Kody wouldn't you want to hurry up and find him as many wives as you could so you never got your nightly turn. :rolleyes1

Amen Sista!:thumbsup2:laughing:
Between him making appearances as the Burger King and keeping all the other wives happy I would actively be looking for new wives to take over my nights. :lmao:

My son was in a local hospital for 8 hours, had some tests done to see if it was his appendix, got a drip for dehydration........and the bill was $6300........

You guys crack me up :rotfl2: I would be so selfless -- I would skip my nights so the others could have him all to themselves! ;)

There will be a "Sister Wives" special on Sunday November 21st @10pm. It is Kody and Robyn's honeymoon. :happytv:

I have mixed feelings about this -- I think I want to watch it, but the idea of an entire hour of Robyn blubbering ...I'll probably watch the first few minutes and see how it's going! :rolleyes1

Did they each get a honeymoon when they joined this family? I'm wondering because it seemed like the middle two weddings were very casual and low key. There are already jealousy issues with Robin's dress from those two, I'm wondering how this little getaway is being received by the other wives?
