Make sure you do not have auto-renew on.

PS - We told them NO AUTO RENEW...

You can't subscribe without auto renew. You can decline auto charge to your credit card on renewal. Do that and you'll get a bill. Don't pay the bill, and don't call to cancel, SiriusXM will send your account to collections.
