Interesting. We don't have young kids anymore and we rarely use the Single Rider Line, so I'd never heard that. (I think the only single rider line we used last trip was MIB....a few times in a row).
"NOTE: Children under 48" (1.22 meters) must be accompanied by an adult at all times and on all attractions."
BTW....we loved using the single rider lines! My daughter and I ended up sitting beside each other on Forbidden Journey! Most always we were in the same ride vehicle.
I should have elaborated. My son is 10 and has been tall enough to ride everything for a couple of years. Twice on MIB and twice on the Simpsons the TM working the entrance refused to let my son ride without me. It's not normal but it can happen.

So was it at the entrance to the single rider line that your child was refused, or was it after he had waited in line and they told him once he got to the front of the line? My son is tall enough for all the rides but he is only 9.
That could be a difference, too - while DD has used the single rider many, many times, I have always been in the single rider line, too. I could see a child without a parent in a nearby vehicle being riskier than a child with a parent nearby.
It was at the main line entrance. We always stay onsite so it was actually the express line but the same thing would have happened doing single or standby. We go to USO a lot, this has only happened the 4 times I referenced. Normally it's a nonissue. Just letting others know it can happen.

That's very very odd and I would have taken it further. Their signs state that it's a height requirement, not a judgment call.
My son was riding hippogriff alone at 7 and Woody's coaster at 6.5 (would have ridden hippogriff at that age but I didn't notice the clear signage regarding the height req for rising alone until our last and 14th time in a row on hippogriff.
