single parent families

I'm in with ya! Our first visit was this past March and I'm hooked! We've already booked for this coming March and I'm working on ADR's tonight so I can hit the 4 am online rush.

wow, that's great, maybe in time there will be some more of us single family's to chat with.
we are going down january 2nd to 9th, i rented some DVC points, this will be our 3rd trip down and i promised the kids 2 character meals, but i am selfishly taking more ressie's for me this time!

I'm a single mom here (but by choice, not divorce) I adopted my DD as a single.

As you can see from my signature, I love Disney and we go as often as we can :) Unfortunately, we don't have any trips planned for the future but I'm hoping for Thanksgiving week 2010....

Single mom here too. (Never married)

Out next trip is in December for the holidays.

welcome to the thread everyone, it's great to hear that i am not the only single arent disney fanatic out there. i love disney, and i love going with my kids, but it's nice to have an adult to talk to,so sometimes i am envious of the "perfect "family when i am there,or when looking at trip reports.
what are some of your obstacles on the family vacation ? and how do you overcome it?

Hi, add me to the list! I have been wanting to post a thread seeking you guys out for a while now, but didn't know wha to call it. I am a single but only have one DD - do I still count as a family? (Please please say yes). We are also Disney hooked! So far we have always just gone on our own - never joined up with anyone else, but we have met people there and spent a day in a park together!

Helen, I see you also have a DD(7) - just like me! So I guess I do count!

I too am a single mom by choice, DD is 2, and has been 5 times since January! I have an AP and live in south Georgia, so we get down there a lot.

All us single parents need to stick together!

LOL, look at us all! I've been on here for years and kind of just figured there weren't many single-parent DISers since I'd never seen a thread. My DS and I have been tackling the World since he was 8 months old! We live near enough to WDW that we spend a LOT of time there.

As for obstacles... I really haven't had many. I'm currently frustrated that there isn't a daytime kids' club I could use so as to get myself a workout in a WDW fitness center. I get that it couldn't possibly be cost-effective to have one, but it sure would be nice!

2Tiggies, yep, it's just my DD and me in our little family. Well, my parents live across the hall from us but they're not Disney fans like us.

Missy28, I was looking at your profile pic. Is your DD from China, too? I adopted my DD from China back in Dec 2002 when she was 11 months old.

So far, all of our trips have been with other people (twice with other single China adoptive mom friends and their girls and once with my parents and aunt) but I'm actually looking forward to going with just my DD someday. I think it would be easier than trying to coordinate everyone's interests and schedules.

Just a question for you all: Do you also get a response like "Are you crazy going alone?" every time you book another trip?:rotfl2:

people think i am just generally crazy for booking disney year after year, but as a single parent, i feel safe there, inside the gates. transportation is aranged, the kids have alot to keep them busy, and we love it.
I am really independant,as i bet you all are too, being a single parent would require that trait.
of course you count as a family, ohana comes in all sizes !notice my quote below in my signature.
well i am so happy I started this and that you are all here!
anyone ever go in the nightly chat room ?

Hello! I'm a single mom to an almost 9 year old daughter. I love being a single parent and had the joy of taking my kiddo to Disney last month. However, while I love my kiddo an insane amount, I did feel a bit lacking in the adult conversation department. I said that there needs to be a single parents meeting spot at Disney. I know I'd sign up to have somebody to hang out with, if even for a few hours.

single dad with 2 boys (3 and 4 yrs old)

We love DW, have been twice and plan on going back agoin in Jan.

I'm a new mom to 7 month old ds. Our first trip together is this december but my parents love disney also so they are coming. I dont think I'm ready for a trip alone.

Single mom here! Were going in just 2 1/2 weeks to celebrate DD's 10th Birthday. I totally understand the feeling safe comment as that is why I did the first trip but now were just hooked.

BUT we don't limit ourselves to just Disney. I take her to any business trip that I can and we have at least 1 other vacation each year. This year was extra special as we did Atlanta, Orlando, New York, Philly, LA and Orlando again.

Add me to the list! Single mom of a 13 y/o DS. We have been to disneyland and disneyworld and are planning our next trip to disney world in 2011. I know that's a long way off (about 619 days :rotfl:) but this way we can budget for it and our several camping trips each summer. We love disney and I think I own just about every touring book they have out. My co-worker has informed me that they are planning an intervention and I am no longer allowed to go to Barnes and Noble unattended :lmao:

Nanette :goodvibes
