Hi I went to Disney with my kids and brother and his family last July. I am dying to go again. This time I would probably be going on my own although I have been communicating with an old friends who is also a single parent but we can't seem to get our schedules to mesh.

So my question is: Do you go by yourself with just your kids and how do you do it? I do enjoy being with just my kids and we separated from my brother for several days but were happy to rejoin them for the company.

The other problem I have is that my 8 year old rides everything and my 6 year old is terrified of most rides and would be happy to stay on it's a small world all vacation long.

I vacation with my kiddos alone all the time. We do Disneyland usually once or twice a year, along with other trips. I've never been to WDW- which I know is far larger (we're going in June) but DL and CA Adventure park I've done with them. And we do the rope drop, breaks during the day and also go back at night.

I find pros and cons to it. When we go with another family member (my sister often comes) or friends, then I have to worry about the other adults having a great time, and I feel bad if one of my kiddos gets tired or doesn't want to do something.

When it's just you and the kids, it's all about them. You know them best, and it's so great to get that quality time with them. I make sure I include them in planning, and we take turns doing things (sister gets to go to BBB and brother does Pirates, etc). We each (inc me) get to pick and ADR, and a trip to our fav store. It all works. We don't do big thrill rides cause that isn't fair to my oldest who hates heights, but neither child seems to mind- it's all about just being together and there is so much else to do.

Oh- and my kiddos are 5 and 9:)

I have been taking my niece since she was 3.5 yrs.

We did DL by ourselves. Then the next year we travelled to WDW with my neighbours. We did have some meals together and we also met up in the park some of the time. Then last year we did the same but only met up a few times and hardly spent much time together in the parks.

This year I'm taking the younger niece for 14 nights. She's much braver than her older sister so hopefully we will get to ride some of the 40" rides. If she can grow another 3" we might even be able to go on SM (haven't been on it since 2000).

I would explain to the older one that she/he may have to miss some of the rides she/he likes, unless you feel comfortable allowing her/him to ride on her/his own. You could go through the line (as long as the younger one is tall enough) and then take the chicken exit before boarding, then meet the older one at the exit to the ride. You could also tell the younger one she/he needs to choose one ride (that she/he normally doesn't ride) to ride this trip as her/his sister/brother wants to ride some of the more exciting rides but can't unless you all go together.

Well Jess we would match up great. My son is 8 and my daughter is 6 so I can tell you know what I am talking about.

Good suggestions Thank you
