Since when did being a jerk become a theme park strategy?

We're not special, we just think of ourselves as being better than elderly people like you.

About 15 years ago I referred to my grandfather, who fought in Germany in WWII, as "elderly".......

he didn't like it.

So your elderly comment probably won't go over well with that crowd. For some reason the geezers find "elderly" offensive.

Today my grandfather is 95 years old. Each year he marches in the local Independence Day Parade. He used to carry the flag but he's too old for that now. Anyway he marches up front and all the Korea guys and some Vietnam guys are riding in convertibles behind him. He loves that he walks while younger guys ride. So the marchers are Desert Storm guys and one WWII vet. It's pretty remarkable to see.

So my grandfather is 95 and going strong. My dad died at 64 of cancer. Life is not fair.

I'm thinking that these people running out of the theater were rushing to get to another attraction (RSR maybe). Obviously, this was on their mind during the whole show, probably to the point of not enjoying the show. So sad. I've never been to Fantasmic but I am planning it on my next trip.
We hadnt been either. Loved it. My dh and dd had a fp to rnr @8:55. They made it in time and didn't run. Although rnr was broken.down....again. I think it was the frozen fireworks. But they should have had plenty of time to get from f!' To fireworks. I waited until dd and dh came back from rnr and made it to the tram cars before the fireworks began

Well on the positive side..after the poop incident my ds went on his first roller coaster! We had fps on Wed. For 7dmt but he was too nervous. He is my little worrywart and afraid off everything. He thought about it all day yesterday and told me he wishes he went. I tried to get fps for today, but they were gone. Dh and my daughters said they thought it was tame. So I got two fps last night. I don't ride coasters either but I said I would brave it with him. He was so scared but got through it. He loved it. I did too! It was veey intense for us..lol He said to me...mom , I'm so proud of myself. I considered a fear!

So the ride back to our place, the talk was about ds riding his first coaster and poop.lol

Yay for your son riding his first roller coaster! :) 7DMT is the perfect little coaster for first-timers, enough to look at and nice and smooth.

I'm here right now, and I only saw one thing that struck me as openly rude. Yesterday at Epcot, I was waiting outside Mission Space and right next to me an older man on a scooter, intentionally ran right through a group of little kids playing around. His wife was horrified and apologized, but he was nasty as could be. He kept fussing that the kids were "squealing too loud". We were sitting on the benches next to each other and she told me he was grouchy and didn't want to there. This is why I would never force a grandparent to go to Disney!

Just as a heads up, they aren't just fireworks. There are projections on the castle, sound, songs-to me they're not even worth watching without the show that goes with them. Just regular fireworks. If you go in knowing you won't be able to move fast and you may get a squished foot and banged ankles and keep a positive attitude (realizing that most people are moving with the herd and not necessarily pushing and crowding on purpose) it's really not that bad.

From the Cali Grill balcony, I was able to see the projections on the castle (CR is very close to the castle), and the music (nice and loud) is piped in. On the 4th floor balcony, they used to pipe in the music, but I didn't hear it last week. The perspective from Cali Grill is stunning.

I've watched fireworks from within MK and outside of MK. The top of the Contemporary Resort beats them all...in my opinion.

Since we stayed at CR, we strolled back to our room afterward and enjoyed the Electric Water Pageant taking place on Bay Lake.

No crowds.

Peaceful.

Very entertaining...in fact, one of our most memorable moments of our July 2015 vacation.

I never get the point of people chastising others for their feelings on their experiences at Disney or other places. You aren't going to change their feelings about what hsppened.

You might want to check the definition of chastise.

I still don't get these complaining threads; just makes people seem like big whiners. Annoying things happen, move on.

me being more than half a car ahead
Maybe it's differences in how people were taught. I was taught that you don't pull into the other lane unless the driver of the car in that lane can see your rear turn signal blinking, so half a car isn't good enough, and if you're going into a high speed lane from a low speed lane, I consider it courteous to let the car in the high speed lane pass you first, though passing on the right is both legal and annoyingly common on MA highways.

I'm sorry to hear about your son. We now avoid Fantasmic and Wishes because of the stampedes that follow. It's scary actually. I'm glad they are expanding the hub in MK. Hopefully that will relieve some of the crowds.

This very topic actually came up between me and DS7 today (BTW, I''m 44 and I won't associate with the age range that was listed! While many my age may have succumbed to this behavior, I won't and I certainly won't raise my DS to do it either! I'm not offended by the comment though.). I have to drive a lot on a daily basis on some very busy highways in CT and I've found CT drivers to be less than courteous and not very knowledgeable of basic traffic laws. Heck, if they stay on their side of the double yellow lines, it's a good day!

Anyway, I was in a left lane, trying to merge right and had my turn signal on. No one would let me in. I saw an opening and started pulling in, when the next car literally sped up to try to stop me because, god forbid, anyone get in front of him. I muttered under my breath and my DS7 asked me what was wrong. I explained turn signals and being courteous to other drivers, letting them in to a lane if you see they have a turn signal on as it really only takes about 5 seconds of slowing down your trip to help someone out! My DS7 said, oh yes, like the time after the fireworks in MK! I was very patient as others pushed past us trying to get out of the park. I truly believe places like WDW (and major interstates) can really make or break a person. I just can't understand caring so little about other people that you would knock someone down on the way out of a show. It's really sad. What happened to do unto others? Until then, yes, we will avoid big, crowded, end-of-the-night shows as well.

As for the napkins - wow.

I drive on the same CT roads. My BFF recently moved to Tennessee, and she has been blown away by how courteous other drivers are. When she came back to CT for a visit, she had a hard time readjusting to our crazy CT roads. So many people texting and driving (even though it against the law in CT); so many people cutting off other drivers; following too closely almost forcing other drivers off of the road...Just aggressive and nuts.

I do the same as you in WDW. As I've previously stated, we no longer watch fireworks inside the parks, and we won't go to Fantasmic on our next trip. The show is entertaining, but we've seen it twice in eleven years...it is exactly the same...and dealing with the chaotic aftermath is not worth seeing it again. We have found other relaxing and enjoyable ways to spend our evenings in the resorts.

Last time we were at HS last year, I saw some people running. One of the runners was an older gentleman. During their running maneuvers past us an other families, he proceeded to fall and hurt his hip or something. I was annoyed at first and then part of me felt like justice had been served. I bet he won't do it again. Nobody wants to go to the Disney medical office! :crutches:

Karma... ;)

We watched the frozen fireworks at the exit...It was fine. Couldn't really hear the music. Dd could so she sang it for me..lol

My dh waa just telling me how he went on a ride with our two daughters and got cut off from them by a couple. The man was nice and let my dh go in front of him. The woman said....." why did you let him go?" He proceeded to tell her that he couldn't split up a party. She said " now we are going to have to wait longer for the ride" . The guy said...." really?! Wow".

Lol my dh didn't make the wait any longer. People are funny. This kind of stuff makes me laugh..but not when someone is just plain rude

This is actually a part of 195 where 2 lanes already on the highway suddenly merges and I am always in the left lane and the person in the right lane speeds up even though I am clearly ahead of them. This always results in me having to slam on my brakes because while there is currently enough space for 2 cars in one lane, there isn't going be in a few more seconds. What's even worst is the times where they are behind me as in they can see my rear blinker and they speed up super fast at the merge which again causes me to slam on my brakes. The sign for that merge is always the right lane merging into the left too. :sad2:

Lol hope that guy woke up and dumped this girl!

Well, in the interest of full disclosure ...

So, do you suppose, if I wore a large 1955 button on my sweater and my Mickey Mouse watch and ears, that anyone at next year's Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party would get it?

But it would take me longer than from now until then to train up to even a short sprint. So, I think I'd just skip.

Well if I see an Annette Funicello look alike skipping thru the gates at this MNSSHP I'll know it's you! And Yes, according to these post, you wouldn't want to sprint, apparently that's rude, but I think skipping would be fine!

Also, sound like a wonderful vacation and adventure in California.

Oh, yeah. I blame those on the highway engineers ;)

There's an entrance ramp near me where the ramp narrows down from 2 lanes to 1 before joining the main highway. I usually take the left lane, because so many people don't realize that there are two lanes right at the start of the ramp that the right lane is often quite backed up. Sometimes the people to the right of me are slowpokes and there's no problem getting ahead, but sometimes they're clearly eager to get up to 75 in the left most lane, and I just let them pass me on the right. I try to avoid the ramp when there's a lot of traffic, but for the most part, I force myself to remember that it's not a competition. I don't always succeed.

DD got her learner's permit a couple of weeks ago, and I'm in the process of teaching my DD how to drive. We are nowhere near highway driving yet, but I really dread it. She has almost 6 months before she will be taking her driving test. I know the most important thing I teach her is "defensive driving."

When she sees aggressive drivers, she points out every law they are breaking. She knows to just let the crazies go.
