Since when did being a jerk become a theme park strategy?

Op here... Honestly I thought I had seen it all until today. Today took the cake. We were at wdw. We were sitting at Casey's corner. A family was at the table next to us. They had a child probably around 8. Apparently he had an issue because he proceeded to pull down his pants. His mom was yelling at him and he kept putting his hand near his rear. She ended up grabbing napkins and wiping his butt. She put the soiled napkin on the table and got another . She did it again. We were next to them eating. Eww.

I have never seen anything like it.

Oh. My. Goodness.

Oh. My. Lord. My gag reflex just kicked in.

See now this is awesome. And no one is being mean. We've all seen some interesting behavior in Disney that's for sure. I saw pre-teen girls at Typhoon Lagoon only wearing only their swim suit bottoms. I assumed it's a cultural thing but was a shock to me.

Wow, so sorry I said 35-45. It wasn't directed at anyone in particular so let's just realize it was just a range. My point wasn't so much about the exact age, but what I've experienced. I'm 55 and I was just speaking from years of experience.

It's almost funny that people are offended by the age range I posted. Is it because they're special? LOL

But when you generalize an entire decade of individuals as self entitled brats who believed they are "super special" you're going to spark a reaction. Come on, that's basic.

What you said was condescending to my age group and how we raise our children. I (and many other parents) work hard to make sure we raise level headed kids who act appropriately, and you just labeled ALL OF US without merit. Yep, I was not happy. So I replied to your insensitive remarks.

And your last jokey/snarky reply at the end just proves you still feel that way. Ok, go ahead. I can't change your mind, but if you don't want an uproar think before you type.

So sorry that happened to your son.

Last trip (our first) we were too tired to watch the fireworks. Our October trip I would like to, but this makes me nervous. I hate crowds all going in one direction and I can just imagine going back to the buses and how much fun that would be. I'd definitely wait to be the last ones.

Yeah, that is the most disgusting thing I've ever heard. She couldn't grab him and get to the closest restroom?!

Watch them from the Contemporary, 4th floor balcony or make dinner reservations at California Grill. Don't put yourself in that position if you are at all concerned.

Not used to seeing boobs discussed this much on a Disney forum.... not complaining lol

Lol that part of the trip is forever engraved in my mind. Ca

Thanks for the tip! Just sounds seriously stressful!

It is stressful. It isn't fun.

Last week, we ate at Cali Grill. After dinner, we strolled around the Contemporary Resort. We used our receipt to get back into the restaurant 15 minutes before the fireworks. We walked through the restaurant and stood with a handful of other diners on the left balcony. To the left we saw Hollywood Studio's fireworks, then when they were over, Magic Kingdom's fireworks were straight ahead. Best fireworks viewing ever.

Relax and enjoy!

Just as a heads up, they aren't just fireworks. There are projections on the castle, sound, songs-to me they're not even worth watching without the show that goes with them. Just regular fireworks. If you go in knowing you won't be able to move fast and you may get a squished foot and banged ankles and keep a positive attitude (realizing that most people are moving with the herd and not necessarily pushing and crowding on purpose) it's really not that bad.

I see an appalling example set by many parents today of the 35-45 age crowd. So many were raised by parents who told them they were so super special and no one should be telling them what to do that they bought into their own press. They need to learn that you don't always get to be, or have to be first. It's not a contest and there is no prize at the end, not even a trophy or a certificate.

I completely disagree. I am 44 and was NOT raised that way nor did I raise my own kids that way. In fact, I don't see that with anyone my age....

Wasn't the comment that many were raised in that manner? I might have misunderstood but I agree that many are like that nowadays. Not all of course.

Well on the positive side..after the poop incident my ds went on his first roller coaster! We had fps on Wed. For 7dmt but he was too nervous. He is my little worrywart and afraid off everything. He thought about it all day yesterday and told me he wishes he went. I tried to get fps for today, but they were gone. Dh and my daughters said they thought it was tame. So I got two fps last night. I don't ride coasters either but I said I would brave it with him. He was so scared but got through it. He loved it. I did too! It was veey intense for us..lol He said to me...mom , I'm so proud of myself. I considered a fear!

So the ride back to our place, the talk was about ds riding his first coaster and poop.lol

OP listed an age range probably from visuals of people acting like jerks. I'm pretty sure he wouldn't think that every single person who falls in that range is rude or is raising rude kids.
The point of the OP is that people were acting pushy and rude. It's laughable that the age range is where people are choosing to hang their hats.

He was off by an entire generation. Gen X'ers weren't raised as self entitled winners made to feel "super special".

Even if bdcp was thinking Gen Y or Millenials, it was rude.

Bad behavior cannot be clumped into an age bracket. It is in all groups.

The fact that he stated this ten year span of people who were raised a certain way (which was incorrect) and how that now leads us to show our children appalling behavior struck a cord. Obviously I'm not the only one!

The comments were condescending and insensitive. No matter what age.

ETA: @Disneychick75, it was not the OP who brought up the age debate. Another poster chimed in saying they see an appalling example of behavior from 35-45 and went on about how this group was raised. It was an incredibly ignorant remark imho and it caused quite a stir.
