I'm sorry if this topic has been covered many times but the 'search' function is disabled...

I'm on a waitlist for 3 of my 5 nights in Dec instead of waitlisting the whole 5 nights...was that best?

I opted for the automatic confirmation and NOT the phone call...is that the best too?

Now, should I not ever bother them and check on it? Should I just let the waitlist do it's thing?

If you do call, do you just ask for availability for those nights or do you just come out and ask if your waitlist has come through?

I did mention this (calling) when I waitlisted the 3 nights to the CM. She said yes, it was fine for me to call and that Thurs or Friday would be good days to do that.

I guess I'm just not sure if it's worth calling at all and if I should just leave them alone and let the waitlist do it's thing.

What do you all do?

Thanks for any feedback as this is my first experience going 'home' and having to waitlist.

IMHO, it was wise to waitlist the days individually and to opt for automatic confirmation. (I assume you have a back up plan if the waitlist doesn't come through).

Since there is still so much time before December, my advice is not to call for awhile. Maybe call once a month just to check and then call right after the 7 month window opens (next BIG chance for something to open up) for the days you need. I think the reason the CM told you to call on Thursday or Friday is because those days are not as busy for MS as the other days. When you call I would ask about availability for the day & unit size and then ask about the waitlist progress. I would also call more often as it got closer to December. Definitely call at the 31 day mark as that is when many will cancel to avoid the holding account. Personally, I think the waitlist will come through for you before the 31 day mark, though. Good luck!

Thank you!

Would the 7 month window be around June 1 for a Nov 30 check-in? Just so I have an idea...

Also, would I have to give up at day 31 so that I don't waste points? I have a one-bedroom reserved and then the two-bedroom is waitlisted. If I can't get the two-bedroom by a certain time, I will give up rather than loose any of my December use year points.

Thanks again!:)

Yes, the 7 month window for a 11/30 check in would be June 1, but since 6/1/03 is a Sunday, you would call on Monday, June 2. (As you obviously know, the window is from check out day).

Not sure I exactly understand the question about losing points. A one bedroom costs less than a two bedroom, so if the waitlist comes through, MS can cancel the 1 bedroom and reserve the 2 bedroom. With a December use year and an early December vacation, banking deadlines shouldn't play in.

If the problem is that you don't want to move between a 1 and 2 bedroom, then I don't blame you for wanting to keep the 1 bedroom (assuming it will work at all) if all the days don't come through. But since what you really want costs more points than what you now have reserved, I don't see why you need to give up until the bitter end.

Or is the issue the night of 11/30? That night is in the 2002 use year. That's the only way I can see you losing points - assuming you already have the 1 bedroom reserved, and then if you decide to take a 2 bedroom for that night, don't get the 2 bedroom for one or both of the other nights and don't want to move.

If that's the case, I think I would take the 2 bedroom for 11/30 when it becomes available and accept that if the waitlist didn't work for the other nights, I would move after that night to the 1 bedroom. But that's me, - if I really wanted/needed a 2 bedroom, I'd be willing to gamble having to change rooms once for a shot at the two bedroom for the whole time.

Sorry if I didn't understand your question. Best wishes

no, thank you. You did a great job!

I realized after your post that I would only loose Nov 30, if I went to the very end, I think.

We were happy with the one bedroom and then my husband invited his brother. We're trying for a 2 bedroom for them. They also have alternative plans if this doesn't pan out.

thanks again!
