Want to get some software for a Christmas gift. A friend already has the The Sims Deluxe version with an Unleashed add on. Is it better to buy another add on like Superstar or buy the Sims 2?

I have Sims2 and I love it. It's much more detailed and elaborate than the original Sims (which I also love, and have all the add-ons for .. yes, I have a Sims problem ;) ). This is all PC, by the way, not console. I think you're talking PC, but I just wanted to be sure we're on the same page.

That said, Sims2 requires quite a bit more computer horsepower than the original, so unless your friend has a pretty up-to-date machine, they might find Sims2 a bit jumpy or difficult to play because it runs too slow.

If you do go with an add-on for the original Sims, I really liked Superstar and Makin' Magic. :)

I love the Sims2 as well ... It's very addictive and if you do end up buying it, you may not see them for a little while

I agree with Caroline ... the game is very processor and graphics card intensive. Make sure your friend's computer can handle the game.

Hmmmm. their computer is 256K, but not sure about processor and graphics card. Thanks.

I found it playable with 256k, but I had to upgrade to 512k to make it really hum along. I was gonna do that anyway, though, so it wasn't a big deal for me. My processor's 2.4Ghz with a GeForce 4200 graphics card.
