Rumor and speculation.......thats all the simpsons ride is at this point.

The Simpsons is one of the most popular shows of all time. I think its a great idea, those who don't like it are probably in an extreme minority

Simpson's ride is a good idea, replacing BTTF is a bad idea.
And I think that is the way a lot of BTTF fans see it. The reason that they are replacing BTTF is because they believe that it's popularity is waning, which I think is a crock. They're still making commercials with a BTTF theme. What's ironic is, they are replacing it with the Simpsons which has been around for God knows how long. I'm a Simpsons fan and will probably love the ride, but this thing should have been built 10 years ago at it's popularities height, not in it's twilight years. That goes for the movie as well.

So keeping a ride based on movies made 15-20 years ago is ok, but replacing with a ride based on a TV show and new movie that's current NOW and still very popular is bad?

It's a face lift, nothing more.

BTTF was very jerky, made many sick.
Simpsons characters are "new" will let Universal plaster billboards along I-4 saying "new ride."

Same thing they did with the Hanna Barbara show turned into Jimmy Neutron.

EarthQuake will be next in a few years. Talk about an old movie. I haven't seen that one in years, even on regular TV.

Im not big on simulator rides, so I doubt I will be a fan of the new ride....BTTF was fun when I rode it in the early 90's, but I never rode it again.

I got my new Travel City Direct brocure for Florida 2008 and in the 'Whats new' section it talked about the Simpsons ride opening in Spring 2008

I don't care as long as the ride is fun and I want to do it again and again and again.
That's the way I feel. I liked BTTF but I stopped riding it last year..I'm too tall to ride it w/o banging my head! :headache:

i voted don't care- just make it a good ride!

i will miss the BTTF theme, but not necessarily the ride itself. I thought it would have been nice to revamp it, but it is just not popular enough. Because we knew it was closing, my family made sure to go on it one last time. We watched the movies as a family growing up (one of the few movies my dad will actually watch) so we have our own "inside" jokes and phrases. Even this last time, we were sad but realized - gosh it really is jerky. It's time. We do have good memories of it in the 90's though.

It is kind of like that old car you have that is falling apart - you remember the good times and love it for sentimental reasons, but how much do you really enjoy the ride?? The shocks are gone, the antennae flew off, the seat cushions are poking you - and teenagers are giving you confused looks that say - i have never even heard of that model car.

i love the simpsons and i love new rides - so i am excited with whatever they put in there. It would be nice if it was more of a thrill ride, but i don't know how they would do that if the simpsons rumor is true. But you never know...

I wish they had of replaced Twister or Earthquake instead- IMO they are terrible!! Boring and out-of-date!! However, I wonder will they have a little shrine to BTTF in the new Simpsons ride like they have a shrine to King Kong in the Mummy

Twister is not in disrepair, and Earthquake is more an effects show than a ride. BTTF was in severe disrepair, hurt people, made people sick, and was in desperate need of an overhaul. Why overhaul a movie that had its last installment almost 20 years ago? Just replace it with a new movie.....though I really would have liked to see a B&M hyper coaster that hit 88 mphs.

I'm just hoping for a good ride too. I do love simulator rides, & would like to see one that compares to Spidey. We hadn't ridden BTTF in years, then made sure to ride it last summer one more time. It was just as bad as I remembered. (I did enjoy it, when it 1st opened though.) Whatever they put in there, I hope it's not just a facelift on the old ride. I can't see us enjoying the same ride with a new movie any more than we liked the ride as it was.

If they do it I wouldn't like it to be on the exact same tack as BTTF, but more along the lines of Spiderman where you feel completely immersed in the action.

BTTF was a good ride in its day, but it was getting old (as has been mooted on this thread - it was rickety and made people feel sick. If I sat in the back I'd usually come out with a sore head from it battering of the back of the ride - cushions would have been nice there instead of cold, hard plastic)

Whilst a Simpsons ride is a bit of a dream-come-true for me (my favourite show!) I wouldn't mind if they went with something else - as long as it's GOOD!! If they're going to do it - they need to do it right.

The theming in BTTF was absolutely brilliant and I think I'll miss that when I go in October - as opposed to the ride itself.

I agree, I will miss the theming.

Is the new Simpsons ride definately going to be a simulator?

why do universal insist on replacing their classic rides, the mummy ride is very good but king kong was an absolute universal classic. yeah the simpson ride sounds fantastic but not at the expense of another classic ride. there must have been room for this somewhere else in the park. oh yes, i also miss the psycho house and hitchcock exhibit!

I vote for a Spidey-type ride too. I would like to see something that is a repeat-rider, like MIB and Mummy. I could ride those two all day, but BTTF was a one-time only because it tended to make me queezy as well as banging me around.
