Do you want Simpsons to replace BTTF? Do you think it's a good idea?? What's your thoughts?

Since there hasn't been a poll yet, let's get one started.....:rolleyes1

NO, NO, NO, NO, NO, NO, NO. Absolutely not, no way no how!!!!! Please come up with something better than this! I'm am not beneath begging!

Although they've been around for a long time, that also makes them one of the most recognizable, and they still have a lot of fans, even if it isn't for the newest episodes. I dont think it's a terrible idea...and besides, for those who don't like the idea, what other popular movie/tv show, etc. should they add instead?

I don't care as long as the ride is fun and I want to do it again and again and again.

The Simpsons are timeless. I mean, when will 3' high blue hairdos go out of style. Movies like Earthquake and ET are too old for my kids but 20 years from now they will still know the Simpsons.

I don't mind as long as its fun. I'd like a bit more of a thrill ride in UO. Just one to satisify my thrill craving for that visit....

I voted don't care--as long as it is a good ride.

Now, what is the latest? Is BTTF closed? Is construction underway? Is there an opening date on the calendar?

BTTF is closed.....something opening by 2008 (June i think?)

O.k. so here is my problem. I don't like the Simpsons, let alone, I don't let my kids watch them either. However, knowing me, I know I will find myself going on it just because it is a ride and curiousity always kill the cat, then I will probably think that it is not that bad of a ride, so I would do it again....unless it was a really horrible ride and not worth a second chance. Darn those amusement parks!!!:rotfl:

I actually wont mind. I love the BTTF movies. But every time I rode the ride, I always felt like it was lacking. It just seemed like a waste of time. You go through all that build up for nothing.

So since the ride was lacking A LOT in my opinion, I dont really care. I wish they would have went back and made the ride video more entertaining and fun. At least it would have given me a better sense of completion.

They put the fun in dysfunctional; make my family seem darn near normal:upsidedow imagine that!

Parody, satire, sophmoric humor (the emperor has no pants); you either get it or you don't.:confused3 Easy to skip any attraction, BTTFs jerky motions were rather intense for young kids imo anyway.

Simpsons are an edgey, modern day classic. A multi-million $ franchise (with long awaited movie premier scheduled for July 27, 2007 - hmm perhaps debut the movie @ Universalpopcorn:: only problem with that theory is it's distributed by 20th Century Fox).

It is exactly the target audience U courts, it's the thrill/cool park that all the adolescents/young adults clamor to visit during their WDW sojurn...no pixie dust required.;) yep, my family's somewhat obsessed lol, climbing down off soapbox now.
Bubba's mom - where did you hear the June '08 target date:banana: ? Still don't understand why they closed the attraction w/o any fanfare as to replacement unless they're waiting after summer rush (to avoid delayed plans by casual visitors??).

here on the DIS of course :thumbsup2

let me go hunt for that thread......

ETA: per yaytez--Its not going to happen in 2007, but in 2008. That is going to be the budget they have setup for it. The bttf will open in May of 08...maybe sooner. There was supposed to be an announcement last week, but it may be end up being tomorrow, if at all. I really hate how Universal does things.....disney at least tells you what its going to be.

whatever the replacement attraction, May is usually the target month for opening.

i just hope that MIB won't be overly crowded when i go in october.
with not another big draw back in that corner, i hope it's not packed.

When we were there the other day thats exactly what it looked like. With omly MIB at that spot it was packed. We only ride single so it doesn't bother us but the other 2 lines were very long,as long as I've seen in the middle of the summer

I don't understand why they're keeping it top secret. A world record roller coaster, yeah, I can see keeping that under wrap. But a Simpsons ride?
Parks keep their stuff so secret these days, that no one knows about it. Everyone was excited for an announcement last week, and all they came out and said, was that they're going to spend a bunch of money.

Although I doubt this, it could be like another Van Helsing situation where they were going to put a ride on that theme in IOA, but they're waiting to see if the movie is successful before announcing the ride.

If no one goes to see the movie, then the ride suddenly doesn't seem as big of a deal.

It should be different though since everyone already knows the Simpsons.

thanks for the heads up. i was thinking that might happen.

i stay on site at the hotels but since i go solo, i always use the single rider line instead of the express line for MIB, and spidey
