Has anyone done the simply segway experience tour? It's just an hour long?
What did you think of it? What time does it begin? TIA!
DH was thinking of trying it out.

I read a story on this in the last weekly issue of "ALL EARS". Check to see if it is on their website......allearsnet.com.

DW and I did it a couple of years ago and it was a blast. There used to be two times, just before park open and one at park open. We did the later. The first half hour is learning how to control the Segway. The last half hour (might be longer, can't remember) is taking a ride around world showcase, in and out of some of the buildings. It finished about 10 minutes after world showcase opened.

I recommend it for anyone looking to add 'another great memory' to their portfolio.

There are two different Segway programs offerred. One is an hour long instruction only class and the other is the two hour (one hour class room instruction and the second hour riding around the World Showcase). I recently read that the price for the one hour class had been reduced to $30 from $45. I did the one hour Segway Experience last May. It was really fun and left us wanting more. We hope to plan the longer version on our next trip. If you're on the fence about trying it - DO IT! It was a blast. We had a mixed age group and everyone was able to handle the segways. Our class started at 9:30, but I believe there was a class ahead of us. The longer version also has 8:30 and 9:30 groups. I believe the longer version is $80. Hope this helps.

Thanks a bunch!! My DH wants to do this, and we figured the one hour one would be enough to get him aquainted with a segway! and an hour is enough time for DD and I to make a dent in the gift shops :)

I read about this in the weekly allearsnet newsletter so I called Disney and asked about it. I couldn't find it on Disney's website. It is one hour, all inside instruction and riding. It is offered at 12:30 and 1:45 pm at least on the day we're going. It is $30 but you can get 15% off with either DVC or AAA OR 20% off with your Disney Visa. We paid $24 each with our Visa. I like it that it is offered in the afternoon as we like to hit the major rides in the morning. Since we had a bad experience on the Keys to the Kingdom Tour in 2001, we have been hesitant to invest our time and money in another tour. Because the Simply Segway Experience is only an hour and much less expensive than the 2-hour morning Segway/World Showcase Tour, we thought we'd give it a try. We are going on October 19th so I'll let you know how it went.

Just wanted to report back on our Simply Segway Experience on 10/19/05! It was AWESOME! Larry was our main instructor with LaMonte helping. They were great. Larry could be quite the character and he loved posing for pictures. We started off with a short slideshow and instruction. Then we started practicing on the Segways inside. We got to go outside for the last 20 minutes or so. Even though our class started at 12:30. We didn't finish until almost 1:45. It was so much fun that I hope to do the longer Segway tour offered in the mornings on our trip next October.

DH had just taken this tour last week 10/20/05! They were very great in allowing DD and i to watch and videotape the class!! My husband had a blast! they went outside after some basic classroom instruction and everyone in the park was watching them!!

The class was small just DH and then a husband and wife duo. They all had fun and it was easily learned :)

DH is excited to do the World Showcase Tour next year on our November trip!!

We are hoping to go down to WDW in February and would love to do this. My boyfriends son is 17 and I think he would really enjoy this. For those that have down either the short or long version which would you recommend. I think the short would be too short. Also with the short version, if you go in the afternoon, where do you go as World Showcase is open then?

Any info would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Linda

Donna, if you don't mind me asking, what was your bad experience? We did that tour last week and hated it - bored out of our minds, but LOVED the Segway tour - WS.

Back to the top - I would recommend going with the whole 2 hour tour instead of the one - it's worth it to go around WS and it's a blast - well worth the extra money and you get a great pin too!

We had Larry too - he's great!

My husband wishes he had done the longer one, you get the shorter class inside of the longer one..do you know what i mean? The shorter class is inside Segway Central they call it (right now it's in the Food and Wine Festival Center building) and then the outdoor portion takes place in the garden area outside of there. No world showcase portion at all!

If you however are going at a time that all the around the world segway tours are filled definately do the shorter tour as it never fills up and my DH still had tons of fun!

RadioFanatic, I think I just answered on your thread about the KTTW tour. I was disappointed in our guide, who was boring, wouldn't or couldn't answer any questions, and didn't tell us anything that I hadn't already heard. I was also disappointed that we didn't get to see much of the utildor. We walked in on one side of Main Street near the Emporium and then under the street and out the other side.

lpizzuro123, we chose the 1 hour for two reasons:

1. We had a bad experience with the KTTK tour (see above) and wasn't sure we wanted to spend the money for the 2 hour tour. With our Disney Visa discount, the two hour tour was $64 and the one hour tour was only $24 per person.

2. We wanted to do Soarin and Test Track and some other rides in the morning since that was our only morning in Epcot so the afternoon times worked better for us.

Our DD, 21, is going with us next October and I think we'll forego the rides to do the morning tour. The Segways were so much fun to ride!
